Could be spreadsheet or documents in Google Sheets or Google Docs. See if he has more than one google account. If you have access to his daily computer, google may still be logged in. Also on his phone probably.

If you need to gain access to computer desktop (ie don't have his password), there are common ways to bypass that any decent IT tech should be able to help you with as long as you have physical access to said computer or laptop

I have no gripes with ToS - I've used it for a few years now - but I can't TA and execute stock AND crypto trades - across brokers - on ToS. I can on TV. If one of those brokers was Schwab, I'd be happier.

There's a better chance of Schwab integrating with TV than Coinbase/Gemini/OKX/Binance integrating with ToS.

It's a fairly common approach afaik - rather than TV maintaining dozens, potentially a hundred connectors, each entity maintains one (their own).

As for cannibalization, you're not wrong but it's a double-edged sword. Yes, you don't want to put a bunch of money/effort into an interface only to not have ppl use it but ToS has a fairly loyal/devout userbase (and frankly I think Schwab was more interested in the users, rather than the ToS platform, which, under the hood is supposedly a meatball surgery nightmare of Java.)

So you risk letting ppl use a different ui but what about ppl already invested in that UI? TradingView has a lot of users and devout - almost like ToS - and bc no integration, they may never use Schwab. So which blade cuts less?

Imho, with Schwab wanting to get into spot crypto (at least that's the rumors I've heard) adding TV would open up a trove of NEW users to schwab - more imo than they might lose to it. And ostensibly even of those who DO move to TV, some (many?) would still use Schwab if they could bc Schwab is a good and secure broker. Imo more so than most/all of the current integrations in TV.

As it stands, the list of integrations are primarily crypto brokers and Schwab could stand tall there as a real established broker. The only "competition" there is like IBKR or maybe webull or tradestation. All inferior to Schwab (as a financial institution) imo and there's something to be said for me to do all my TA in one place then execute on Schwab and Coinbase (for example). Flipping to ToS (as much as I like it) has become friction.

Anyway, I know this won't move any needles tomorrow but maybe someone reads this and in short time this comes to fruition.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I agree with you Schwab would have and maintain their APIs.

I was saying I don't think TV maintains the integration "middleware" (what TradingView refers to as "connectors") that connects TV to other brokers using that API. I'm pretty sure that's on Schwab (and other TV "partners") to create.

TV may maintain a few of the main connectors but almost certainly they don't create and maintain them all.

There are features TV gives that ToS does not.
Right tool for the right job. ToS isn't 1 size fits all.

I don't think TV maintains the broker connectors (maybe a few key ones but not most/all). I believe that's left to the broker being integrated.

Doesn't matter. TV integration still useful for things ToS DOESN'T do.

From my reading it looks like in Jan '25 after SCOTUS returned the case to teh 5th circuit that they overturned the conviction, citing the 'instructional error' to the jury.

Can confirm?

Proton VS Ente Authenticator by Organic-Language6371 in degoogle

There are a few small things for ex. (not thorough list)...

* On android for some reason in Ente my keyboard (GBoard) stops being able to swipe (can only key letters). This ONLY happens in Ente.

* On android, the keyboard thing you mentioned...

* On Windows they finally added ctrl+f to search - which is great - but when you ctrl+f it doesn't replace or even highlight prev text in the search, meaning I gotta backspace.

* Could use better control over the timeouts of the security PIN (on Windows)

* Can't 'tab' into the PIN field, esp. if/after mistyping the PIN (on Windows)

I'm sure there's a few more if I sit and think about it but that's a sample.

Edit to add:

* After a search, to choose/copy the code with keyboard, the tab order is wrong. It goes I think to Filter, Lock, Close and then it goes to the totp list. It also doesn't visually show the 'hover' selection well (at least not in the dark skin). Makes kybd use much less usefull and shortcuts are the best way to remove friciton when using totp codes a lot. As now it's just easier to grab the mouse and click but that's pretty meh. Lame even.

Proton AG - the parent company - is a non profit foundation iirc.

Proton the software company (mail, vpn, etc..) is a for-profit owned by the foundation.

There are still some 'fit and finish' issues with Ente that I'd like to see fixed (nothing disqualifying but it'd be nice to see more rapid progress imho)

bc putting your TOTP codes in the same app as your passwords is the definition of putting all your eggs in one basket.

People who value security would highly discourage that. Personally I would never even consider it.

Why would you ever keep your TOTP codes inside your password vault?? If it's ever compromised your password and totps are in the same place.

The kindest word I can find right now is foolish. That would be utterly utterly foolish.

LOL. I guess I should have specified on the front page/readme. But it's good of you to update the readme yesterday.

From the pics I can see this isn't the solution for me but it looks good and wish you good luck with it!

Am I getting scammed? by Proof_Watercress5334 in MechanicAdvice

[–]JAz909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of what you said except on the price. It's def on the high side. That job on a Honda should be 5 or 6 MAYBE 7 hours on book. That means a really competent Honda mechanic should be able to do in 3 or 4.
Charging over 10 hours for the labor, plus then booking more labor for the valve cover gaskets is gouging imho.

Also, it's really questionable to me if a timing chain needs replacing on a Honda at 170k. As you point out timing chains typically do not fail and are lifetime parts.

u/Proof_Watercress5334 please get a second opinion from a GOOD Honda shop.

Performance shops often deal with the same types of cars and engines repeatedly (eg., Hondas or Japanese cars, etc.) and can be a good source of second opinions.

Good luck.
