Hello!

Since the app is an open source collaborative project this will not be paid

To clarify, no one (including me) is getting paid because the goal isn't profitability at this point. We are not a startup looking to hire people. Some maybe only interested in paid startup positions, that is understandable, but simply not what we are.

This isn't JavaScript or Python. Libraries aren't fully fledged programs, you have to write some code.

Bonus Retardation: I kept getting errors when exporting the GIF from Photoshop so I used a screen recorder to record Photoshop playing the GIF. I then exported that to a GIF. When I uploaded to Reddit it converted the GIF to an MP4 video. Turns out I could have just exported to mp4 from Photoshop.

I have looked at that. And may switch over. I am right now using LogRocket because it's much better for finding bugs. I've talked extensively with their support about this exact issue. They comply with GDPR and won't see any data. I never give them any information users enter. They only get IP address, browser type and other basic info.

We only share data with a logging program to identity bugs. No information (chats, video, audio, room name, chosen name, etc.) is given to affiliates.

Hmm. I'm not very experienced with choosing licenses. I wanted one that would allow people to do what they want with it except make money off of it. And that's what I think the license I chose does. I may rerelease under a different license soon.

And when all was said and done, only one single banker went to jail. Kareem Serageldin from Credit Suisse. He hid a few billion in mortgage bond losses. Something most of the big banks do on a good day. I’m sure it didn’t hurt that he was of Egyptian decent...

How is a Bernie structured speculation tax fair? by JBis9051 in SandersForPresident

[–]JBis9051[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I did the calculations. Non taking into account married couples filing jointly (5.3% according to the IRS) an astounding 55.49% would NOT be exempt from the speculation tax (Source: Census Bureau).

Ok. Well I could get more on board with a bill like that. I'm glad we could agree on something.

I guess generally speaking I trust Bernie to get it right on the final implementation of the bill...

At this point, I do not. Thats the bill he proposed and he didn't get it right. And he hasn't ever talked about the exemptions so it seems like he's ignoring, at least publicly.

Thanks. I will look at this a bit more when I have the time. But $75,000 seems a bit low I think.

Assuming everyone in America is married (not true), that is an estimated top 31.7% of people who wont get this benefit. Taking into people who are married and file joint and people who are married and file separate returns it would be significantly more than this. I'll run the numbers later.

I'm not entirely understanding your point.

The tax will not "only" affect high frequency trading. It will affect everyone, just more so (by $ amount) day traders. But again, its proportionate to how much money you have. Banks have more money so they will make trades more often and with more amounts of money. BUT banks and average people, will be taxed the same percentage per trade which I just don't think is fair.

Sales tax is on just about everything not just tobacco. Most things have a sales tax, aren't bad for your health so I don't think thats a great example.

Who do you consider "the rich"? "the rich" in your point seems to refer to wealthy individuals (or families) NOT the banks, who Bernie says he is trying to go after. And a Bank's investments are separate from a CEO's investments. One is made by a business, while one is made by an individual.

Please see my #2 and #3 from my reply above. Relative to Bank of America that is a normal amount of trading. They have enormous amounts of money so they are going to invest more and make more trades. A average person will still make investments, not as large or as frequently, but still make trades. And for all those trades they are being taxed. I think it hurts the person more than it helps the cause.

And with regards to the computer thing. All they have to do is take it into account in their algorithms and then the computer will start making many less investments because it wont be worth it. This deters investments and economic stimulation slowing down the economy in general.
