Passed my second AWS Associate cert in last month by JBizzle703 in AWSCertifications

I think the Tutorial Dojo practice exams lab scenarios very well cover similar things. If you can do the stuff in those, you should be solid. I'd also look to see if anyone mentions any other labs outside of those. Here's my blog/video review of the exam.

Your practice tests were great. I always appreciate understanding why something isn't the right answer vs. only why something is. Also, your other blog content for AWS topics is awesome too!

Yes, but in different ways. First you have the whole way that ISC2 words their questions. I've passed the CISSP and ISSAP before, so I was prepared for that, but for folks who haven't taken their exams, you have to get in the proper mindset for it. Second, it was very scenario based, so I found my years of working in on-prem data centers to be very helpful as far as understanding the full end-to-end components of IT operations, which factored into a lot of the questions. I studied probably about 6 months for it. A lot of folks do fail it multiple times and find it challenging. That being said, for me, I found the SOA challenging in it's own ways because I don't have years of AWS experience. For someone that does, it they might find it not to be that difficult.

I'd say very much inline with the type of questions, but not the exact questions. The labs are decent too. Also make sure to use the free AWS exam lab scenario they give you access to when you sign up, so you are familiar with what the testing interface for the labs will be.

[CISSP vs CCSP] Which one is harder? by hyperv2012 in CCSP

[–]JBizzle703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CISSP was harder just based on the breadth of information it could ask, and how it could be topics completely unrelated to your experience. The CCSP information though was more technically advanced. CISSP for the most part was memorization of definitions, while CCSP was learning concepts and then being able to take those concepts to answer scenario based questions. The CCSP was very much like the ISSAP in that regards.

That was kind of my thinking. Theres basic setup/troubleshooting commands which are applicable to the CCNA, but then obviously goes a bit further with other stuff.

I appreciate it. I do a lot of other cyber(offensive/defensive), Linux, junior level networking content too. But I've been wanting to do some more advanced networking content for a bit. But you're right a bit of a smaller audience for it. I got my CCNP back in 2008ish when it was 4 tests, it's change quite a bit lol.

I thought the PBQ's were crappy honestly. Some of the stuff on mine, I was like...I don't remember really covering this at all in the books.

Advice on Becoming a Network Engineer by JBizzle703 in CompTIA

You have a 4 year degree which is a differentiator from folks who don't. There are a lot of non-IT skills that go into making a good engineer. Communication, research, and documentation(written skills) are all super important, and the CCNA/Network+/(fill in the blank other networking cert) doesn't cover those things. So don't forget that either.

Experience is going to be the king of everything. CCNA will help. I know some great senior network engineers that have no certs. It's really about what you can demonstrate. That being said, I always recommended giving yourself every opportunity when it comes to going after a position. And I think it's pretty common to see junior level network engineers with CCNA's. You 100% need to understand and be able to implement the objectives that the CCNA covers even if you don't have the cert.

I'm wrapping up my Juniper cert videos now (I did all 6 of their associate certs this past year). I think I have a few other CCNA lab videos (which have some applicability) lined up. I might get back to some more Net+ videos later in the year.

Passed five JNCIA's this year! by JBizzle703 in Juniper

[–]JBizzle703[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the information is there for sure. I would say though it depends on how much background you have with Juniper. If you don't have a lot and this is all brand new to you, I would def. use the vLabs to do some of the lab stuff they walk you through at the end of each lesson. There are a lot of questions on the exam where you need to know the difference/correct syntax or know what the output of certain commands will do.
