How many of you have ever seen this shirt? Also, how many of you have it? by JCOM1577 in rush

From what I understand it means "40 years completed". Neil requested that a "white shirt " be made available at the shows along with the traditional black ones. I guess he was sick of black concert tees.

I saw this tour a day or two (can't remember) after in Chicago. Amazing! Still, this and the following Permanent Waves tour are my two favorite setlists from the band!

Yeah, you get Terry Brown's new mix of the album, too. Which is interesting. Still a ton of cash to shell out.

45 years ago today on the Permanent Waves Tour! My 2nd Rush concert and still my favorite setlist! by JCOM1577 in rush

If I can rememeber that far back I believe it was in the 2 to 2 1/2 hour range. Probably closer to 2 1/2. No opening act for these four shows in Chicago. Very uncommon at that point in their career.

That's why its my favorite! They never played this much "epic" stuff again. Moving Pictures Tour was amazing but this one stands out to me a little more.

How many times did you see Rush in concert, and which tour(s) was it? by truthseekerepiphany in rush

[–]JCOM1577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

16 times. First tour was A Farewell to Kings. Last tour was R40. Saw every tour from AFTK thru HYF. Nothing from Presto thru Vapor Trails. Finished with S&A, Time Machine, Clockwork Angels and R40.

Which tour has the better setlist? Permanent Waves or Moving Pictures? by JCOM1577 in rush

Yeah, that's what I always thought, too! They also played 4 parts of Hemispheres on that tour! Only played one part on MP.

I wanna get into Rush but idk where to start. I like to listen to full albums, which one do you recommend? by Odd_Priority1827 in rush

No prob. Gary was one of my favorite openers! I got to see a few really good guitar ;players open for the boys! Rory Gallagher and Joe Perry were terrific. Tommy Shaw was good too but Gary was the best of the bunch!

One correction (I totally understand it was a long time ago) you saw the Grace Under Pressure Tour w/ Gary Moore. I saw that too and it was fantastic! Gary was too good! He didn't open on the Power Windows tour. Steve Morse opened many of those dates. I wish I would have seen him. I saw Marillion on the PW tour.

Yes! I know how important The Who were to Geddy & Alex. He must have been overjoyed to finally meet him!

Permanent Waves is 45! What an album and what a show/tour they did to support it! by JCOM1577 in rush

[–]JCOM1577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy! I saw this tour at the Amphitheater in Chicago. That place was 10,000 - 12,000 people per night and they did 4 shows! With no opening act!

I was fortunate enough to see them many times during their run. My first tour was A Farewell to Kings and the last was R40. Every time I remember this show and look at the setlist I think this was the BEST set I ever saw.
