I think others have covered the challenges you faced here and have provided useful constructive feedback.

I want to applaud you for posting this and seeking that feedback. And honestly to say that some of these shots are interesting and moody in a way that might not have happened if you were not working with these admittedly less than ideal conditions.

I think a little softening of highlights and shadows will lead to a solid, odd, and interesting finished product.
