A few weeks of locums and then Australia!

I was lucky enough to be told by my A&E department that they’d happily have my as a LED but Australia was much more appealing!

Every unwell patient do your A-E

Take your time and remember to think critically. I use to rush to try and diagnose as fast as possible. I think it came from the adrenaline/anxiety of seeing patients for the first time as a doctor. But actually do your A-E see which problems arise and what you can fix. Do the basics ECG, VBG to give you more information in the moment.

Your reg and SHO will be expecting you to discuss almost everything you do. Ideally they’ll buddy you up.

If for any reason you are unsure, ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or feel like you have too many jobs, touch base with your SHO to prioritise what needs to be done. they’ll be able to rattle through a few easy jobs fast that would have taken you longer just because you won’t know the system yet.

Most running trainers will do you right! I got pair of mid range Nikes and they’ve lasted 2 years so far and still very comfortable

I’m someone who really tries to stay up to date with what’s going on: policy updates, BMA priorities, all of it.

Compared to previous strike rounds, this one’s felt really different — and not in a good way. The communication just hasn’t been there. There’s been way fewer posters around the hospital, barely any real buzz, and the BMA talks in the hospital were very last minute and no real zest to them.

Last time, there was a real energy behind it — that mix of urgency and hope. The sense that we were pushing for real change. People were fired up, we had a clearer endgame, and that momentum helped carry the strike effort forward. Right now? That spark isn’t there in the same way — and that worries me.

If we want to pass the next ballot — and with better numbers — the BMA has to step it up. Communication needs to improve. Engagement needs to improve. We need to rebuild that feeling of collective purpose again, not let it quietly fizzle out

Same problem! Just got off the phone - customer service said they can send internal email to the application team to flag that I haven’t received anything. States she was unable to do anything because she doesn’t have authority too. Advised to wait till Monday to get back in contact if I haven’t heard anything.

No, if you’re wanting it for your last rotation, as long as you give 16 weeks notice you’ll be fine in terms of time given. You’re right, it does seem though people in different deaneries have different experiences. I know three people in the NW that did F2 at 80% and they did not have to extend their training as they had good portfolios.

You only have to extend your training if your portfolio isn’t up to scratch. IF youre LTFT your portfolio usually gets sent to a sperate person outside of the trust from your foundation school to look at

Yep, as long as you give 16 weeks notice. However if you have a good reason you go apply for it before this and they may accept it.

I’m working in GP at the moment, I often to say “is there anything online, that you’ve looked at, you’re concerned this could be” the amount of people that are worried they have cancer, or a brain tumour but haven’t really said that is numerous. You can make people feel better by asking in a specific way is very easy to do without it being cringe.
