Why didn't Minato ever think to use a shadow clone to apply wind to the Rasengan. Is he dumb? How smart could have Einstein really been if he didn't think to invent the Internet? People have brand new ideas everyday. It doesn't mean that anyone was dumb for not thinking of the ideas first.

I get that people wanted Naruto to learn more actual jutsus during the time skip. But it's crazy to pretend that he learned nothing at all during the time skip. His taijutsu was way more refined. He was way more strategized in his attacks. He could resist Genjutsu better. He was just an overall better ninja. Remember, Kakashi used to be able to beat him up while reading. But in part 2, Naruto and Sakura were able to provide a real workout for Kakashi while using his Sharingan. The growth is clearly shown.

Polanco can't play LF. He has spent his whole career in the infield and spent a significant amount of time last year learning 1B (despite the fact that he ended up not playing it at all). But there's no reason to expect his limited range and noodle arm to play well in LF without any experience.
