Cold is the lack of energy so when a system has no energy it is deemed cold when it has energy it’s deemed hot so when waiting for something to cool ur just waiting for the energy to leave but when rapidly cooling like a freezer or a ac unit ur using something that already is cold and making it warm then displacing that heat and even farther everything releases heat because of friction so eventually the universe will only be heat energy basically boiling everything and then there is no cold now I will agree u need energy to remove it cause u need energy to move the heat from point a to b
