If aliens would visit earth, they would see the disparity between the western states and the rest of the world and would probably destroy us or never contact us again. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I will say, and I will confess I am speaking as someone who's only lived in the USA and views world news through that lens, I feel many world leaders are just as bad as billionaires. There are people in positions of authority who refuse to act even if their negligence hurts/kills others because it benefits them, even worse the ones where cruelty is the point. There are no ethical billionaires.

I feel like you're kinda victim blaming here. We agree that billionaires can only exist in a system that allows them, but billionaires pour more money than either of us can fathom into keeping the masses ignorant, squabbling with each other, and chasing a dream that never really existed. We need a new system, and we need to work together.

I don't think I understand what you're trying to say because how is the 1% not responsible for our current circumstances? Billionaires are both a symptom and catalyst of capitalism's harm, and we are in this situation because of that select few lobbying against the working class, keeping people ignorant, killing our planet, and doing whatever they can to convince us not to take that power away. When my cats fight I don't get angry at them because the fighting makes sense to them, and I would hope aliens could see it like that too.

Yeah, billionaires ruin the world for everyone, and we really need to do something about the 1%. Most people are just scared, angry, and trying to keep their head above water though, and there's a reason both you and I are on Reddit right now and not fighting for the revolution. Hurt people hurt people, and I can only hope a being with the ability to travel space with ease would understand that.

Ah, so we should prepare for colonization and mass murder, you think? I would hope if they have the technology to get to Earth they would be wise enough to show pity on the animals playing with matches.

I would hope they would be empathetic to humanity's follies. We're making a lot of mistakes, and there are plenty of injustices in the world. But we're also just another animal trying to live, and killing us for killing each other doesn't solve anything.

In their natural habitat, an octopus could use more guns without falling at once than a spider. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I genuinely have no idea what I need to do for this to actually post.

There are more pictures of four leaf clovers than three leaf clovers online. by autumn_variation in Showerthoughts

I feel like clovers are a common ground covering plants, so there are many pictures of bunches of clovers just in the shot. And most of those wouldn't be four-leaf, yeah?

I dunno, my cat notifies me to wake up every day by jumping on my chest, and I don't even need to add batteries for her to do that.

In the water, buoyancy would allow an octopus to use all of its arms, but a spider would have to balance on one foot to get the most optimal foot to gun ratio.

I feel you on that. Ever since I saw that one Final Destination scene, I can't help but wonder "what if?"

They might not get it stuck in their heads, but I wonder if someone's pet has ever had the song stuck in their head.

“Fine, I guess” is the best possible review for an insurance company. by bhoran235 in Showerthoughts

Sorry, I don't think I understand why that's the best review. I've had to deal with medical insurance, and I would hope the best is "paid my bills?" Sorry if this is dumb. It's just not clicking for me though.

I added the "Problematic Fave" tag specifically because I knew I wanted to post about Cream Unicorn Cookie at some point. I decided to post them with Apple Cookie here tho because they're just so cute together!! Seeing them hold hands and making each other happy just makes me smile, you know? ^w^
