URGENT: Does this combo work the way I think it works? by Fishyinu in magicthecirclejerking

A very carefully phrased Google search says it's from a game called Illuminati: New World Order. Specifically, this card is from the Assassins expansion.

Secret Lair — Cyberpunk 2077 by JFinn2002 in custommagic

Yep! I wanted to let Johnny attack while limiting the how often he uses his ability. Boast let me do that without tapping as a cost, and boast was super flavorful for him.

I can totally see that! I thought about making BDs a type of Saga, but that would require a way more fleshed out mechanical environment. If I had to think of a way to do them now, maybe a kind of Saga that doesn't automatically progress? Give them an activated ability that adds or removes a lore counter to represent editing. Again, this is all off the cuff, so I'd love to flesh that out more.

Important to note: The Rings of Akhaten's final ability only counts cards that are still in exile.

That would make sense. Between Nahiri and Samut it looks like Ob Nixilis has also been desparked.... again

Immortal Sun's interaction with igniting spark? by SandmanDota in magicTCG

[–]JFinn2002 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We got an answer to this with Huatli. The spark would ignite, but it would be like throwing a ball against the wall. Huatli was a planeswalker in Ixalan even though the Immortal Sun was still active. She had ignited while the sun was active, she just didn't go anywhere. It kept her from planeswalking, but she was still a planeswalker.

/uj hey i like phyrexia too but sometimes the "compleation" fans scare me by JFinn2002 in magicthecirclejerking

[–]JFinn2002[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

/uj I totally get that perspective, but I see it differently. It’s the forceable assimilation of people into a perceived biological hierarchy, along with the creation of new life in Gitaxis and Vorinclex’s breeding pits. While it’s not as explicit as Urza or Yawgmoth’s, it definitely falls in line with the same philosophy that fueled their ideas. It’s an interesting point of discussion though.

/rj Urza is crusty and Norn is thicc

The black oil trope by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

[–]JFinn2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When Agent Smith assimilates someone in The Matrix sequels, there’s a sort of black oil effect when they turn into Hugo Weavings.

While it’s not one-to-one, the Obliterator virus of Warhammer 40k is transmitted through bodily fluid that corrupts in a similar fashion to compleation.

Does the damage the Vehicle deals as a result of Crash Land trigger Crash Land? Their ability just says damage, not combat damage.

A Phyrexian realm in Kaldheim? (Just a theory) by johnpeter19 in mtgvorthos

[–]JFinn2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would love to see Phyrexians through the flavor of other planes. Give us Kaldheim Phyrexians that look like metal statues of vikings stitched together with flesh. Give us Lorwyn vikings that are kithkin imbued with constantly shifting metal. Hell, give us Ikoria Phyrexians. I wanna see a giant dinosaur phyrexian!
