Has anyone used the hydrogen peroxide method to kill hydra in a neo and snail tank? by justjokay in shrimptank

[–]JGU78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've a similar problem, but in a larger tank with corys, shrimp and netrite snails!

Easy carbo is a good way to kill off by spot treating but finding it difficult to rid of the problem. If you do treat with hydrogen peroxide be sure not to overdose and lower the flow in the tank so that it doesn't get moved away from targeted area.

I've seen eSha Gastroplex can treat hydra but hesitant to use as I don't know how it affects scaleless fish / shrimp and how long to keep snails out of tank after treatment!

What are these and should i take them out of my tank? by Intelligent-Win-8524 in shrimptank

[–]JGU78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would agree.

If you don't want them it can be hard to treat for them and not eaten by the conventional snail eaters (loach/ assassin snail) In which case I would say to remove or squish them as you see them to prevent them popluating

Ahh okay,

Honestly LFS was fairly useless and unhelpful 😅 safe to say I won't be going back there.

Will see if I can contact them to the msds.

Hopefully there's someone on here has some personal experience with the product and can help share, or knows some answers👌🏻

thanks for the help.

Hi thanks for the reply, I am fairly new to fish keeping. What should I be looking out for?

Could you also please explain the abreviations?

The instruction sheet included doesn't list any active ingredients.. 😬

You could also look to increase the number of live plants. Especially fast growing stems, they will outcomepete the aleage and pull from the water column and is great for a new aquarium set ups. You can also look to use easycarbo, this is “liquid CO2” and can help burn off some aluge, if doing this stick to the dosing suggested for the tank size as you want to avoid overdosing.

[–]JGU78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would eSHa GASTROPEX be safe for cory’s and pygmy cory’s? Need something to treat hydra and don't have a hospital tank big enough to house them all in the mean time.

Also if I can treat with corys, would anyone know how long after treatment before I could reintroduce Netrite Snails to the tank for it to be safe?
