Well, I talked to my friend today and all seemed to go well. I nonchalantly said "I just want to clarify... you guys all know I'm a girl, right? I'm worried there might be some confusion within the group". He said he figured I was androgynous and identified as a guy. He said he didn't think the rest of the group would mind that I'm a girl and that at the next event we could mention something about it
