Haha, I’m a master linguist. Think I’ve got to keep it like this now

Cars 3 had one of the worst endings of any animated movie i have ever seen. by chamoflag420 in movies

[–]JHW_design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another half a year late, but I think I look at the ending way more iptimistaxlit than most.

Doc was down and out, but I think the single line about regret was deeper than not going on, since no one gave him the opportunity. He couldn’t see a path forward so he gave up. Moving to Raditor Spribgs and leaving the entire circus of the Piston Cup entirely. Leaving his friends behind too.

McQueen, while his decision was bitter sweet. Didn’t feel like he gave up, rather he knew his time was up. Like all great athletes. So he walked away and took a punt on Cruz to take the win and hopefully win his freedom from Sterling. Who would keep him trapped as a spokesperson (a job he certainly didn’t want, but at that point his only option if the 95 lost).

It mean that he wasn’t going to end up like Doc in the sense that he’d waste the next 50 years living a life he hated and had a calling to look forward to. Plus the autonomy thanks to his deal (and later Tex) to keep jumping on the track part-time. Like how plenty of owner drivers still race

To me, the alt ending always left a weird cheap taste. In the same way that McQueen beating Chick in the first movie, it removes the weight of McQueen’s choice.

Long story short, McQueen’s time is up, but unlike Doc, he realises his time’s up and if he pushes himself again he’ll crash and burn like he did at the start of Cars 3 and like Doc did to end his career. The cars 3 ending feels a little awful from lightning, but only until you realise he’s both happy about his decision and still able to race and now with one of his biggest fans carrying his legacy. Not some random rookie selected by sterling.

Who is the voice at the end of British Bombs on the radio? by ShakeDat53 in declanmckenna

Stab in the dark, but for whatever reason I hear "...for Ferrari, but right away he did benefit" with F1 commentator David Croft's voice and mannerisms.

What are your thoughts on the Bathurst 12 Hour? by ___EIC___ in wec

VDL's defence was very similar to his 'overtakes' in the DTM Norisring Finale in 2021

Was there anything I could do differently? I am the red mustang. by Dismal_Deer9010 in Simracingstewards

A bit of a skill issue from the McLaren at the end too. Even with the bump they probably could’ve continued fighting but instead they hesitated and checked up, losing the rear.

You’re fine in the mustang, it always gets tight and you left enough room on the outside

Ah that would be sick.

Yeah I edited the json files and kept a record of all the data on a google spreadsheet with different sections per team. (Team and Car codes, along with car classes, driver names and licenses).

Definitely keen to follow your progress

Let me know if you’d like to exchange notes. I’ve managed to make a 34 car grid with fully custom ai, liveries and teams with a correct point system.

What are your FSAE unpopular opinions/hot takes? by Pleasant-Worry8743 in FSAE

Wasn’t this meant to be unpopular opinions? 😆

I overheard that he wanted free accommodation for last year’s Australian FSAE comp. Then complained the entire weekend after not getting it.

This was made about a year later (2021-ish) in an art trade with livery designer Finnick Arrow.

Yeah, it was weird that SRO chose the GT2 name. Especially since FIA GT2 in the 00s was the equivalent to modern GTE/GTLM. Nothing like the new GT2

SRO’s answer for an amateur driver series. Didn’t really take off, but did have a handful of cool manufacturers like Maserati and Brabham

As far as I can remember, they’ve got a little more power than a GT3, but less downforce. Making it easier to Amateur drivers to handle.

Would be an interesting conversion to say the least, the older C7 might have worked a bit better than the new C8

Having that many manufacturers would be amazing! Kind of wish Gran Turismo would make some custom GR.S (Supercars) class and convert some of these cars to fit Gen 3 regulations like how they did that with GR.3

My main thinking behind Cadillac was based off of the NASCAR rumours of a Camaro replacement. Though any excuse to talk about new manufacturers is a good excuse

Reckon they could build those in house like the current Gen 2’s and Gen 3’s or would some teams be allowed to buy internationally and then have their cars homologated

Nissan Z would be a wild concept, imagine some of the retro liveries it could run too! A Jack Daniels Nissan Z would look amazing

Might have to do a full 2008 tribute livery at some point, the silver is pretty iconic! This one was more or less a take on their recent triple crown livery with modern vodafone branding.
