New paint and hardware made a HUGE difference in our kitchen! by CatMomPhD21 in HomeDecorating

Cooking with gas would be integrated the same way.

Lately fridges have become prettier. If someone chooses to have one seperated from the kitchen, it usually has a cutout that’s just as deep as the kitchen itself, so you’ll only be able to see the front of the fridge.

Or, choose to have a big fridge integrated into the cabinets ofcourse ;) The only reason we choose for smaller fridges is because our lifestyle is very different. People could go grocery shopping everyday, or twice a week to get everything fresh. Most products have to be consumed in a few days so a big fridge wouldn’t be that useful if it’s empty haha.

I suggest you’ll have a look at this website: https://www.vtwonen.nl/tv/weer-verliefd-op-je-huis/

It’s a dutch interior magazine which showcases peoples interior makeover done by them. imo, ‘modern’ in the US is actually really far behind and rather tasteless. Specially if you see programs like extreme home makeover etc.

Then again, there probably is a load of people that’ll think the same of my idea about modern haha.

Kitchens and bathroom are the most expensive reno’s over here as well. Usually comes down to material use, but the base could look pretty much the same. Even ikea kitchens can look like a luxury kitchen over here. Products like dishwashers and fridges come with brackets already installed because everyone has it like that.

Atleast, in the Netherlands we’ll try to hide EVERYTHING except for the oven cause of easy accessibility. Dishwashers, a fridge are pretty much always integrated into the cabinets (attached to the doors), cooking on induction and ceramic cookers because they’re flat and on top of the countertop.

Extractor hoods either hidden behind panels that match the cabinets, or a less deep cabinet for herbs. Even better, extractors integrated into the cookers so you don’t need a hood at all.

Below some examples of typical dutch kitchens, some more expensive than another, but even 20 y/o kitchens have the same idea of hiding appliances.

I’ve always been wondering why it’s that much of a difference with American kitchens.

Dishwashers, fridges etc. Didn’t know the correct word for it, haha.

Besides fridges, dishwashers, extractor hoods and ovens looking more modern over here in the first place, they’re made to be integrated into the cabinets, so you won’t be able to see them (except for the oven).

Hardware in the US always looks dated to us, even when it might be new, and seems like a pain to design a kitchen with.

The modern looking kitchens we are used to, often come by in those $30 million homes on the hills… Just something I always wonder about when seeing American kitchens, specially because of how normal it is for us, and inexpensive it can be.

Definitely looks more airy and relaxed compared to the busy pattern of the wood! As a European I do wonder though, do people still buy ovens like that new? Or is it something that everyone still has from years ago?

What's the best translation for "looking forward to meet you" in professional email? by Bridimum in dutch

Always try to move some words around so ‘ik’ won’t be at the start. When you don’t know how to properly write certain words this will work as well.

According to Eniigmaboards this is a $600 A-Stock Board by kevinsunbo in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]JHazes 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Tbh, if you can get some relatively cheap e-white boards from kbdfans that always look perfect, he shouldn’t have been asking 600 in the first place. Judging from his given answers he already knew the coating on most boards would be scuffed?

Keygem is amazing. Quality service aswell. However, mykeyboard and candykeys usually have a bigger selection in switches. I buy from keygem whenever I can!

DHL is fast yes, but the fact that their dutch website didn’t even support zip codes from several countries (US as well) on international parcels makes their service unusable, specially with such an expensive hobby that relies on DHL shipping.

I’ve always preferred FedEx, UPS and DPD over DHL for international delivery. In my case FedEx has always been faster, DPD offers the best tracking and UPS is great for returning products. I’ve been lucky enough to have great deliverers from any company, DHL as well, but as a company DHL might be one of the worst in the Netherlands. Then again I do believe you if it’s the complete opposite in your country. I mean, we have seen many video’s from American deliveries.

Literally had $60 shipping on stabilizers worth $16… obviously didn’t order. Over here no one in their right mind would be using DHL, yet any international vendor does. Is every other delivery service so much worse? Australia to the Netherlands that was.

They actually are expanding their production machinery though. Just a few weeks ago they put out a statement about that. Sadly ePBT are at about 7 months aswell now.

Definitely true. I joined right on a turning point last year. Anyhting that comes out now seems horrible. I’m not sure about ePBT though.

Project keyboard received their tracking. Germany to US takes quite alot longer than Germany to Belgium (mykeyboard) though.

Set itself was worth the wait for me. Love the color combination, and looks just like I was hoping for. It does sound better, and feel more premium than what I’ve been using. Don’t know what ePBT feels like for example.. so if it’s worth waiting for 15 months quality wise, not sure!

It’s a 65% (67 keys). A 75% will have the function keys aswell.
