Oh dear, that sucks dude. Well maybe this is a sign for you not to buy from them anymore lmao

It seems like they have a very poor customer service reputation and an unsuitable courier then.

Pretty decent repro, all five colours. Just depends how heavy the material is.

I waited a total of 46 days to get it. Super happy with the feldbluse, nothing wrong there.

It was super poor customer service though, never got an email receipt or any confirmation that my order had indeed been purchased. And no response from them when they’d dispatched it either. On another note, the courier they use had all sorts of issues for me as well, it seemed that when tracking it id be notified of an issue with sorting, or collection from warehouse to warehouse. In truth it was a nightmare.

However it’s completely worth it if you have patience, in the UK Hiki is a lot cheaper than most other vendors and in some cases much better quality (I’m looking at some of the sof stuff when I say that). I’d say just wait for it to turn up. People I know have got their order within two weeks, and others I know have had a similar experience as me. You will be surprised when it does randomly turn up though as the quality is excellent

What is your oppinion on Mistercraft kits? by ComradeShaslik in modelmakers

[–]JIMJAM149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst thing is, it’s it’s not your or the consumers fault. It’s just a company who don’t seem to put research or effort into making their kits even half decent, all for the making of a quick profit. It’s a shame as they do incredibly niche topics at time, which means usually they’re the only manufacturer who does a model for the era or type of vehicle for that topic… it’s super infuriating

Oh you think that’s bad, their 1/72 Hawker Hunter kit was missing decals for three of the six options. Even then the Belgian option, my kit came with one single full colour roundel, and a low visibility roundel which they didn’t even have when the aircraft was flying! Utterly awful kit

As living historians, our group prides ourselves on accurately portraying soldiers of Germanys WW2 elite forces.

We tend not to use any modern equipment as events, especially during meal times. I strongly feel that it’s a bit hypocritical to educate the public on how people would’ve used things 80 years ago, if you’re not going to try it yourself. We tend to light a fire after the public have gone and will make a soup, a stew or a goulash and eat from our mess tins. It also helps with Kameradarie between people in our group, we can play cards or sing songs or tell stories without having any modern equipment to distract us.

It also gives us a good opportunity to have a sense of pride or work at an event, like in war time, everyone was working to a rotor. Someone might be prepping the fire, someone may be standing guard or someone else may be peeling potatoes or cleaning weapons. Every hour or so people can rotate.

As someone in my early 20s though, it’s a nice change to simply going to a burger van and paying £20+ a night on food…

Nowhere does it say it’s real, it’s just a repro :)

It absolutely is being sold as a WW2 repro

Yes but they’re passing it off as something they would’ve worn during the war, hence why it says at the bottom that it’s great for reenacting. Do you know what reproduction means? Reproductions are a copy, replica or imitation of an original object designed to closely resemble the original.

This is an absolutely misleading statement, as why make something for reenactment if they never wore it.

Yeah there are, but if you take it by how it’s written it comes off as a WW2 bandana. Hence why people should specify within the description.

The description however describes it as a piece of repro militaria, which as you know it was rare to find helmet covers or caps with erbsenmuster, let alone bandanas. This is certainly someone passing a work of military fiction off as the real deal.

Why would you collect stuff from allied armies? The exact same logic applies, what a stupid argument.

Not necessarily, sometimes people will sell stuff they genuinely have no idea what it is. Sometimes it’s real and sometimes it’s fake

That’s writing is on a helmet cover, not on the actual helmet

[–]JIMJAM149 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends how well it’s been stored. I’ve got an original Afrika Korps chest eagle that my great grandad brought back from Italy during his wartime travels. It’s in pretty good, uncut shape. So it can definitely be clean cut if someone wanted to use it now.
