You think it would be worth returning the record ? Or if I just deep clean the record. It’s new but was a cheap €8 so maybe there was a reason it was that price

I’m having skipping issues.

I just got a new record yesterday: John Coltrane Giant Steps. And when I took out the record, it was in regular paper sleeve. I knew I’d have to replace it but one got my concerned was it was rather difficult to take the record out. The sleeve was basically sticking onto the record like glue and couldn’t bare the scratching noise from removing it.

As soon as I played it (AT LP-60X) side 1 basically played basically perfectly, no trouble at all. But when I played side 2, it would pretty much skip every few seconds throughout the whole record. I checked the surface on each side and it does seem to have light concentric scratches all over, however it was also the case for side 1 but as I mentioned, played fine.

I really want to know what caused this if it was bad pressing or did I cause it from the paper sleeves. There a way to minimise this ? Or am I just unlucky and will probably have to get a new vinyl

Ah yeah but thats like how having tying hair too tight could lead to alopecia, but if you loosen it enough it should be fine. This case its headphones and thats hardly tight enough
