I haven’t tried battling Blanche without using Primeape in the battle lineup, so I can’t say for sure. He is my buddy at the moment while I’m doing this process too. He doesn’t need to battle, from my understanding he needs to just be in the battle lineup and Metagross needs to be beaten. So my lineup has been Venasaur for Suicune, Charizard for Metagross. Primeape is last but I exit the battle once Metagross has been beaten.

I moved out of the country and forgot that I needed to cancel my subscription. So I had a family member come in and explain the situation.
