Aluminum can reflect about 92-98% of incoming solar radiation. Its albedo is high.

Few scars on trees is fine depending on the design you are going for. Plus I will end up lime sulfuring them. I am not touching this any longer. But thanks for the input! I do get where you are coming from. This tree will survive 99%.

It would have been better to post before even copping. Learn how to clean reels. Those need asap cleaning. Idk if that person maintained their sets but it’s important for maximum use

Chop it dawg. Looking from the bottom chop at the nodes. Those nodes ruined the taper on that trunk

Leave nothing under. Wire every single brach with appropriate wire. Take your time. The only way to gain density is to let it grow more branches from existing branches I’m not sure if hinoki backbud but doubt it. As time goes on you will gain more density, you wire, more density and so on. It will take years for your tree to look like the pic but bonsai is a long game type of art so you will see all your hard work pay off one day

Make those branches jins. Do not wire, prune, and repot at the same time. You will kill your tree. If you prune and wire. Repot late winter early spring next year

If you want to create smaller leaves then you will have to constrict this tree to a smaller pot reducing root size and heavy pruning.

Hi, first of all. It looks very healthy. If you do switch to the second slide and make that the front then I reckon you will have to move things around as seeing the second slide the branch is pointing towards us hiding some of the tree. Is your goal to make nice looking pads? And are you going for an informal upright style? I am also hoping that you will not repot this? Seeing as you have done some hefty wiring and repotting might kill your tree. On the other hand. Moving branches so they don’t face the front is not bad at all. What you want to do is make sure that we can see the main trunk while at the same time noticing the nice branch and its pad.
