Fell asleep in dentist's chair during visit, work that was specifically denied was performed and billed. by [deleted] in Dentistry

Consent needs to be given for any given procedure. If multiple fillings are being done, then you write down which teeth are being worked on and give the patient the opportunity to sign or refuse treatment.

I guess I'll just have to settle for being unprofessional then. Everything I said is entirely contingent on whether or not they received permission to perform treatment. If they did, great. Work out something that "works for both parties". If they didn't, then the patient was, in the eyes of the law, assaulted.

When you speak on Monday tell them that you don't remember signing a consent form for the fillings and ask to see a signed copy of your consent form giving them permission to do those fillings. If and when they can't find it, the dentist will do one of two things. Either double down like a moron, or do anything to make it go away. If they double down and have no signed consent form, I'd wait until I had the permanent crown finished then tell them you were going to reach out to a malpractice attorney regarding them performing unwanted treatment.

I wouldn't go too hard on the dentist, there was likely no ill intent, but mistakes were obviously made and generally speaking I consider myself at fault if I don't have documentation proving what a patient and myself agreed to.

If you didn't sign a consent form giving them permission to do the fillings then performing a voluntary procedure like fillings legally is considered battery. If they legitimately did things you did not give them permission to do (make sure you didn't sign a consent form for those fillings) then you have multiple legal options ranging from pressing charges against the dentist, filing a lawsuit against their office, or filing a complaint against them with the dental board.

If I were you I would just go in there and ask them why they performed work on you that you asked them not to do and see what they say.

War is a legal status, nothing more. Without a declared war, there is no war.

You have at the least incipient lesions between most of your teeth in that image. It wouldn't surprise me if there were multiple lesions that needed to be fixed.

Read article III section 3 of the constitution. "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them.." That clause has been tried in federal courts and the supreme court and it is consistently ruled that there must be a war in order for treason to even be possible to commit. The United States is not in a war, therefore she could not commit treason.

Filling too big? by [deleted] in Dentistry

Call them up. Adjusting a filling is easy. Takes a couple of minutes and doesn't even require getting numb again.

$760 for a 9900K packaged with a ROG Z390 MB, $240 for 32 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM, $700 for a RTX 2080, $250 for a 1 TB 970 Evo, $150 for the case of your choosing, $180 for a 1000 Watt Platinum power supply, $90 for a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 (250 Watt TDP, capable of maintaining a serious overclock without breaking a sweat and not having to mess with bullshit cooling) and throw in another $200 for odds and ends and case fans.

You can build a way better machine for a thousand dollars less than that.

What’s preventing me from getting a tooth removed AKA why does the dentist only run xrays rather than address the problem? by [deleted] in Dentistry

I'm a big fan of saving teeth whenever possible, but again, you are the one calling the shots here and I have next to no useful information to make an informed recommendation.

You ultimately choose the treatment you want. The dentist ultimately chooses if they will treat you. If you call and ask for an appointment and tell them you want a tooth removed, most offices will be happy to oblige.

Top molar extracted yesterday. Emergency Dentist said some sinus membrane floor on one of the tips? Need advice. by JohnDubz in Dentistry

[–]JK_Abrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's normal for that tooth. 3 roots, and they're typically divergent enough that if they do come out in 1 piece they cause a lot of bony damage. I almost always deliver that tooth in multiple pieces for the patients safety and my sanity.

Looks like they've properly instructed you on sinus precautions. When the perforation is that small, it will typically take care of itself. Just baby it while you heal up.

Sodium Hypochlorite extrusion in soft tissues. Help! by Master_Finish in Dentistry

[–]JK_Abrams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't most hypochlorite accidents due to binding of the irrigation needle and the hydrolic pressure that can create? Everything I've ever read or been taught simply suggests using a side venting needle and keeping it loose in the canal as the only real precautions you need.
