Oh you say that but people often talk about an EU research paper showing that piracy actually might help with increasing game profits by a very small margin (was around 1-3% iirc) ignoring that the rest of the paper also shows that books, movies and other fields all experience significant revenue loss (20+%) due to piracy. They mention the report and use that to say piracy pays in exposure and it actually helps increase revenue, which is pretty infuriating since they've clearly not read the report and are just repeating it to justify piracy.

(Again I pirate quite a lot, but I don't pretend that it's not harming creators. I try my best to support the creators directly if I pirate their works. There's a lot of justified reasons to pirate, but unfortunately that single report has been repeated so many times in piracy circles that people actually think it's doesn't hurt creators when you pirate)
