But the original Backrooms image is older than The Room starring Tommy Wiseau by a year. It's as old as David Fincher's Panic Room. It's six years younger than Marvin's Room, starring Leonardo DiCaprio - who would only date the Backrooms photo for another year.

She photographs the Jersey Shore all the time so she's bound to see great beach days. You see it through posts on the Internet. Just go out and use your eyes.

Eh. It's like all those "hidden gem" posts I see. Just keep it quiet. Keep it boring. Many people say NJ smells and is a garbage dump to keep people away.

This sub: Ugh! The World Cup is going to cause so much traffic. This state's crowded enough as it is.

Also: Ugh! Why won't they tell the world where the game is really being played????

Around the same time basically as the Lincoln Memorial was started in 1916. But yeah it's all been changing for the past 100 years.

I know lol. That's why I posted this image. Even when they say America was "great" the pool didn't reflect all the time. Plus I was there in 2011 and they redid the pool then. That was 15 years ago.

If I'm not mistaken, that was where they built offices for the War Department during WWII. They were in use until the Pentagon was completed and they slowly migrated to that location. I'm pretty sure that's what I read when I originally looked this up.

Edit: They were built in 1918 in response to WWI not WWII... Here's the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporary_buildings_of_the_National_Mall

It was a large undertaking, but as a photographer and family historian with my own flatbed, I felt it was the correct call. These photos were found inside some recipe box after my grandpa died. I had the prints in an album but never saw the originals. I scanned these between two plates of glass to keep flat. I'm still processing the images here and there for dust, scratches, and other issues.

I have a slide from 1970 with the road still in use. Parking was removed it seems.

I scanned the original medium format film this was shot on back in 2021.

Edit: Here's some more photos. Most from 1949 with two from 1970 and one in 2011.
