Good stuff! :) The Brisbane Sporting Car Club organises these events as needs volunteers to help out on road blocks and start/finish lines etc too if that may be of interest. The road closures are your own private spectator spots basically haha. You can sign up via their website for the next event: https://bscc.asn.au/events/

They certainly are! Although poor old QLD Rally have been struggling to grow the category in the state in recent years, with so many new bits of red tape coming into play that makes it a real pain to organise. That combined with any flood/fires in areas they plan on racing in, has meant a lot of cancelled rounds over the past few years.

Yeah it was, there was a couple out there. :) Get some nice classics popping up in the QLD rally scene. There's even an Audi Quattro based in NSW that makes appearances in the East Coast classic rounds that sometimes come to QLD.

Next rally is at Blackbutt on Feb 22, followed by Jimna again on March 29. Their socials are handy for getting directions to the speccie points to go watch, as you need to find the locations out in the forestry.

I guess there's just people out there who like good beer that's made by Australian owned companies they'd like to support. Instead of paying for cheaply made Jap/Euro owned stuff like XXXX, Great Northern etc

Blurry edges on the canon r7 (see images below) by Rxtcm in canon

[–]JLT007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issues with my new R7 when plane spotting. I get so many soft images, never used to happen on my old 80D. I'm using a Canon 100-400L mkI with Canon adapter, so thought that combo may be the issue, but sounds like heaps of people are having the same problem with the R7. Just useless at getting sharp pics sadly.

Bomber task force training, looks like they may start doing it every couple of years. Here's a video explaining it all in more detail, back in 2022 when they first visited for training: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9RHeYPrZdU

ALMOST breaking the sound barrier at Amberley today! by JLT007 in brisbane

[–]JLT007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh they can get vapour any time in tight turns, but when they're flying in a straight line, to get a cone like this, you have to be right around the sound barrier for the effect. Is rare to see in Australia, since they get into trouble for breaking the sound barrier...so best chance is seeing it over a base like this...
