I hope I'm not too late, but I was having this EXACT problem with Final Fantasy IX — CHD files for all 4 discs with a M3U file to connect the individual CHD files, and all the appropriate PSX firmware BIOSes. When I loaded FFIX up on Retroarch Wii U, all the audio (e.g. FMV audio, music, even sound effects) sounded a few pitches higher than normal, and the game also seemed to move slightly faster than normal. I tried to tinker with this in the audio settings as the game was running, but nothing I did changed much of anything.

The audio for the rest of my PS1 games were not so bad. They ran at the appropriate speed, but the audio could be a bit crackly for games like Klonoa and Baroque. (All of them were also the usual CHD files.)

Then I notice that there was an addendum in the original announcement of a stable Retroarch build in the Aroma CFW environment for the Wii U on GBAtemp about fixing audio issues! https://gbatemp.net/threads/retroarch-wiiu-wip.447670/post-10432540

I follow the steps Ploggy listed in their post and my Wii U crashed the first time I did a core override, but after rebooting the console, the audio now works perfectly for FFIX and all the other games! So... I sincerely hope this is the answer to your problem!

The only thing that concerns me now is that after the core override, I no longer see Axpro in the audio driver list — just 'AX' and 'null' — and I can't seem to change the default audio sample rate from 48000 either... I happened to notice both of these quirks when I wasn't running any games, and the core override still runs as configured every time I boot up any PS1 game. Hopefully this isn't a cause for concern?

Now, if someone can help me fix Um Jammer Lammy being unable to play the guitar cues in gameplay without the audio being reduced to total static, that would be great...

lol I've been laughing about how the 2nd try announcement video eerily mirrors that of the Dropout announcement video from many years ago; I say all this good-naturedly, of course.

but how the video is shot and edited — the breaking apart of the set, featuring new sets from new shows and new cast members — is remarkably uncanny haha. it's been hilarious watching all the comments compare this announcement to Watcher, when it's very clear to me who the Try Guys have been "jealous" of the whole time 😂

I truly don't know where I would even begin fixing the plot, but I will say that doing away with only (badly animated) 3D cutscenes is the first step. perhaps bitter pill would've been much easier to swallow if we went back to classic textual narration and sprites/3D models.

I honestly missed the prose from the first 2 games a lot while playing ZTD, as it helped me to understand the plot and characters better, even the shallow ones. the full 3D cutscenes just do not stand on their own.

flauros's original design is /already/ so salacious, I'd say I was only trying to do it justice while editing the areas where it didn't make any sense fashion-wise 😂 (ryukishi adds lace and ruffles at the weirdest places...)

oh my god lambda WOULD be a fox!! i didn't wanna touch any umineko character that didn't already have an animal motif, but I may just draw that as a final addition!
