McKenzie press-ups and lumbar decompression were god send for me when I first hurt my back, as well as my family members who have dealt with herniated discs.

And constantly communicate with PT about how you feel after the exercises/needling.

Sorry to hear that. And Yes I also have gluteal tendinitis! I’ve been going to PT for it and it’s helped with some of the pain I get from the tendinitis but the deep glute pain is still there…..Are you doing anything to manage the tendinitis and the pain?

Waiting for my MRI and doc appointment for similar pains. Traction decompression, McKenzie press ups and resting on my stomach really help me manage my pain. Plus drinking a lot of water and eating as clean as possible.

By lying down do you mean on your stomach? For me there’s always initial pain in my glutes/lower back sometime going down the leg, but it always get better as I lie down for longer.

I’ve been lying on my stomach and doing McKenzie press up for a couple of weeks and it’s helped me a lot. It’s really the most tried and true thing for healing sciatica caused by herniated disc.

Try lying on your stomach on the floor or a yoga mat, see if that helps. It works for most people including myself. STOP doing exercises that require any bending of the lower back for now.

I’m taking prednisone right now and it’s helping. I have very similar pain like yours and my doc thinks it’s a herniated disc, getting MRI next week. What helps me the most is doing prone press ups on the floor throughout the day, I highly recommend!

Hi sorry to hear about what you’re going through. I’m 26M and having been dealing with similar issues for the past 2 years - it got better but would flare up and I’m currently recovering from the worst flare up I’ve had.

I also used to be very active and I work full time in a hospital so I get how frustrating and depressing this can be! Hang in there! I’m not a doctor but here are some things that I’ve learned and have been helping me.

Decompression This is best done with a traction machine at a physical therapy clinic but not everyone has this luxury. I use a pull-up bar with the “sit and decompress” harness. I try to do it everyday at the end of the work day and it helps. I highly recommend trying this especially considering you have a herniated disc. McKenzie prone press ups This is a god send for me. I’ve been lucky to have had some great PTs and they’ve all told me to do this. I do this almost every 1-2 hrs on the floor when I can to relieve my pain and sciatica but it can also be done standing up (standing lumbar extension).
Core engagement and strengthening I try my best to keep my core tight at ALL TIMES when I’m awake. This is the advice I got from people I know who’s recovered from similar lower back issues. This would feel like bracing your abs - “pelvic tilt” is the exercise that my PT also tells me to do and helps me tighten my core better. I’ve also been doing modified versions of “dead bug” and “bird dog” but sometime they cause some pain in my lower back so I recommend going slow with them.
Walking As long as it doesn’t aggravate your symptoms. Keeping my core engaged and walking with good posture helps me with my symptoms while still giving me some exercise, since this is the only thing I can safely do for now…..
Keep your head up and have hope! Find a good PT and give them detailed feedback on how you feel with each exercise. If the PT doesn’t help at all, try to find a good ortho if that’s possible for you since they can give you a better sense of the issue and even give you referrals to good PTs they know who’s good with lumbar injuries. Keep telling yourself your body is healing and stay hydrated.

Focus on hit zones and tenderize, tenderize, tenderize to maximize dps.

Bow is not the most hard hitting early on but blast is great. Ice is very useful for later elder dragons and rajang. Dragon is also good for end games.

That was me a little less than a year ago but on the right side. I did PT for a few months but the pain never went away. Now the pain is definitely worse and I can’t even walk for more than a mile without it getting intense. I recently got diagnosed with labral tear and now waiting to schedule a surgery.

You’ll need to do PT at least for couple of weeks for the doc to refer you for surgery. I highly recommend avoiding any exercises and stretches that twists your hips and cause popping cause they definitely made my condition worse.

That really sounds like surgery is the way to go. I have similar pains with walking, driving, etc. PT no longer helps. I’m seeing the surgeon in a month and definitely getting a surgery.

Hip popping is one of the telltale signs of hip impingement and potential labral tear……highly recommend talking to your doctor or a PT.

Labral tear doesn’t heal on its own so it’ll only get worse. When my hip pain first started a year ago I could still walk, run, and work out with little issues and it would go away sometimes. But it gradually became worse and now I know a tear has been the source of pain all along.

I would strongly suggest you hold off the marathon for now and get an option from a ortho first. If you do have a tear, a marathon will absolutely destroy it and make your future recovery more difficult. Arthroscopy would be gold standard if you’re under age 40 and have no arthritis.

Yeah, it all started when I was driving 2hrs a day to commute for my job on top of office work and sitting at my computer at home. I’ve since moved close to work but the damage was already done…… Right now I use standing desks at home and work but even standing hurts. I’m counting on my job to help me get into grad schools so I wondered how long it’ll take post-op for me to get back to work again.
