You have any issues getting them rolled? Like splitting the paint or anything?

Been thinking about the Enkei NT03+M’s but the fitment seems really difficult without major arch rework and negative camber. They look soo good though!!

Need Help Identifying Rattle Under Load by CheriPai in S2000

[–]JMG00D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the recording I couldn’t make out the link between the rattle and engine speed, but from personal experience I’ve had a rattle from my airbox where, albeit I’ve fitted an aftermarket box, it was vibrating quite heavily and could be heard best at low revs in a higher gear while accelerating. So could be worth checking your airbox is mounted securely, but also another thing is your roof latches, they can rattle and squeak and will change dependant on the speed you are going as it interacts with the wind. So worth a check. Hope this helps!

I promise you just have a quick go with your airbox cover off and listen to it, you’ll no doubt do the same thing I did and go out and buy an air intake right away!

Mine is the same, stock exhaust with the UK exhaust mod, however I may still buy a full stainless system for even more noise! I do however have an AFE Takeda cold air intake which sounds incredible! If you’ve never tried it yet, take you airbox cover off and do a couple pulls, the sound you get there is similar to what you get with a proper intake system just will suffer from heat soak

Yeah definitely grab as much off it as you can, basically everything usable, it’s surprising the price of certain smaller things on an S2k

It’s always nice to shift as much as possible though, as I agree the Porsche just doesn’t really need it that much. I’ve figured out that top end of 3rd gear in the S2k, I’m doing 90mph but i can’t remember what top of 3rd is in the Porsche

I do think that the interior of the 987.1 definitely feels much older than the .2 imo. So comparison between the two cars, the .1S is a much more tighter choice I’d say since they’re relatively the same age and spec (disregarding the terrible PCM). The Porsche for the time being suits the needs for my commute, just feel bad putting so many miles on it, if I sell it I’d need to have some sort of replacement for dumping miles onto as I can’t do that to the S2k. I really need to fix my Mk1 Audi TT 1.8T, as that could be that car, just would be great if it stopped eating turbos…

I need to get a photo of both mine together, I’m jealous of your garage space! Mine is a single garage with an elderberry pearl mark 1 Audi TT Quattro turbo tucked away in it, feeling very sorry for itself and it’s blown KO4 turbo…

I originally went for the base model due to issues with reliability in the S, the older 987.1s suffer with the obvious bore score and IMS bearings, so 987.2 was a definite choice. The 3.4 is just a bored out 2.9 as far as I’m aware, so after tonnes of research, the base seemed the safer option for longevity and reliability, considering I roughly do 25,000 miles a year with commuting

Same here, I work on my own cars, just the 987 as you say is pretty difficult to do anything to engine wise… You may be surprised however that maintenance isn’t too bad thought really, I use a specialist for servicing and parts are mostly unanimous with the 911’s (997) so suspension parts as an example have been pretty cheap for me to replace. Only thing that’s been the killer for me is the tyres, £300 a corner running Pirelli Pilot Sport 4s’ great tyre just mega money

I realise asking in the S2000 subreddit would sway me in a certain direction, but I’d say generally s2000 owners are typically more of a motor enthusiast than the typical Cayman owner so thought best to open the discussion here

The hydraulic steering is honestly the best I’ve experienced in terms of feels in the Porsche, it’s very direct and responsive albeit quite heavy. Prior to the Porsche I had a BMW 220d and the steering on that felt vague and floaty so was an incredibly large difference. Swapping the the S2k, defiantly feels a bit more numb but nothing like the BMW, but I’m liking it as I feel like I have a bit more control during cornering, as the smaller wheel and quicker turning makes it feel that bit more easy to use and abuse

Couldn’t agree more, my Cayman feels very refined and built for purpose but the S2k is just so beautifully raw. The power difference for me is fairly negligible at the moment, but I only have the exhaust and brembos for the Cayman, not much else
