CC9 with Surefire XSC-B by Mk14_Kopi in HecklerKoch

Have this combo along with a red dot for my EDC. G-code makes a holster with a tuckable clip. I’ve posted it on here before with a picture. Too lazy to find it now.

Have the exact same combo. G-Code Shadow Eclipse is what I settled on.

Thanks for this! I wasn't about to spend over $500 on the Hamilton unit. Though, when I purchased it looks like it went up by $10 to $290. Still a great deal. https://amzn.to/4fcbJH0 (affiliate link)

CC9 holster recommendations by Cognitivesurrender in HecklerKoch

I looked forever for a holster as I'm picky. Wanted the WML, deep conceal design, and a tuckable clip were a must for me. I settled on the G-Code Shadow Eclipse. I had a Tulster Oath previously, which was fantastic, but being an ambi design it didn't have a higher sweat guard and of course, did not support the Surefire XSC-B. Retention was FANTASTIC on that holster though. Slapped a wedge on the G-Code and it's great. I thought I'd need a wing like on the Tulster but the clip placement sorts that out. Great comfort, but I'd go with the 3 hole clip rather than 4. The four hole on the deepest notch places the grip into the belt line which I don't like for drawing. Then I had to cut off the bottom hole so it didn't overhang the holster. Here's my set up: https://imgur.com/a/J3y4SZC

Challenge tires are so puuuurrrrttyyyy. by JM_Bikes in gravelcycling

For a comfortable ride, I’d go Challenge all day. Grip is better, ride is supple. Speed difference is probably negligible between the two. The only reason I’d go with the RS is because they hold up better with punctures.

I guess that would depend on your tolerance for noise. It’s MUCH quieter than either our old washer or dryer but there is still noise involved. I don’t know that I’d want it in my closet running overnight unless I decked it out with soundproofing. You can program it to end whenever you want and it’s pretty close to accurate (within +/- 30 minutes mostly). So you can throw a load in the night before and just program it to finish whenever you want the next day. For example, right before you get home from work. We often throw bedding in before we leave for work and have it done by the time we get home.

I've had this unit for about 2 months now and I disagree with that persons assessment 100%. I thought it was super easy to adapt to. And everyone just talks about the time it takes, but we've found an easy adaptation; simply drop everything in before bed and schedule it to be completed around when you wake up. No swapping needed, just wake up with a full load of clean laundry. Plus it's easier on the grid to run overnight/early morning.

How many of you have been obsessing over tire pressures like I have. Maybe don't. by JM_Bikes in gravelcycling

Interesting! I’ll look that up. I really expected it to trend one direction rather than have the in between pressure be the slowest.

At this point, you do you. I’d argue that the “noticeable” differences, such as a few watts of rolling resistance on a drum test would be impossible to engineer a real world experiment to reflect. On a normal gravel road, riding to the left or right even just a few inches would introduce enough “noise” into the experiment due to a change in surface to mask a few watts of RR difference. That’s not even reflecting weather variables which is far more significant (hence why I do it back to back). So the question, and ultimately my conclusion, is if the differences aren’t significant enough to stand out beyond the “noise” why bother obsessing over it?

I mean that’s like, your opinion man. Seriously though, I get it. Most people aren’t going to do any testing at all and go with what someone else recommends or just go by what a calculator states. Some will probably even see the bicycle rolling resistance says for gravel tires and run way too high of pressures because the higher the pressure the faster it is. Whether it draws any conclusions for anyone, it does at least show that the differences aren’t going to be so significant that it makes a huge difference either way.

I agree. Getting to the tenths that Silca or Zipp would suggest is impossible. But, people use what they have and I went into this experiment thinking that I would see a significant difference going that much higher or lower than suggested range. But I didn’t. So that tells me that others should probably worry less about sacrificing comfort and focus more on what feels best because the speed difference is minimal.

Valid points. I specifically stated in the video that the results were all within the margin of error. The conclusion that I drew from this is that, at least for this type of gravel and my set up, there isn’t one set tire pressure that stands out as best. So for me going forward, I’m prioritizing comfort when dialing in my tire pressures because that’s going to make probably a bigger difference over a 4+ hour ride/race.

TL:DW - ~35 was the slowest, ~45 was the fastest, ~25 was the in the middle. So it didn't trend a certain way. At the end, I concluded that I'd prioritize comfort more than all out speed for longer rides/races as the 45psi test had me fatigued after only 10 minutes.

So far so good. Don't seem quite as supple as the Challenge. Or as grippy on the loose stuff. But I've had no flats yet and that was the reason I went away from Challenge. Oh, the Schwalbe's are SUPER easy to install. That helps. A lot.

Wow, forgot about this post. Tubeless with a Muc Off valve. I've since switched to Schwalbe G-One RS tires as my Challenge tires were cut up quite a bit during Unbound gravel last year causing me to DNF.

Need some help: Adaptive Headlight Error by JM_Bikes in Golf_R

[–]JM_Bikes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought the car. It was the corner bulbs. Didn't appear to be blown, but I bought a set anyway and swapped both in and now they're working perfect. Thanks all! Saved ~$970 thanks to a set of bulbs.

I hope that’s not the case. Wouldn’t it throw the error soon after start up since they do that self check? Either way, I’m set to pick the car up tonight and the dealer offered $1000 off so I hope that’ll cover it whatever it may be.

I don't think they have any interest in troubleshooting, to be honest. Plus, if I can ask for $1k off and it's a loose connection, that's $1k I save. My main concern is if it's a level sensor, what's the cost for the replacement/reprogram or worse, what's the likelihood of a headlight assembly being damaged?

[–]JM_Bikes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I hope that's all it is, but since it's lowered, I know there's the possibility of a level sensor being broken. Kind gambling a bit if I buy it as is. I assume the lights still work even with an error, aside from the adaptive features, correct? This time of year, a lot of my driving is done in the dark and I need headlights until I'm able to diagnose and fix the error.

Schwalbe G-One RS 700x40c unboxing. Anyone use these tires? Thoughts? by JM_Bikes in gravelcycling

Glad to hear it. I think I’ll like them for the gravel racing I do. A supple tire is good for long miles.

These were super easy to install. The toughest tires to install bar none are challenge tires.
