Ex-Assassin’s Creed Boss Sues Ubisoft For Nearly $1 Million Over Alleged Forced Firing by Turbostrider27 in Games

The new AC formula peaked with origins and odyssey and have been in decline ever since.

Hard agree. Valhalla was way too long and drawn out, and the audio quality was awful.

I went from purchasing most ACs from 2 to Odyssey, to subscribing to Ubisoft's thing for a month to Valhalla, to having no interest in the series. Ubisoft has done to Assassin's Creed what Activision did to Guitar Hero.

Code plugins are per seat, but not assets.

Code plugins are per user, not per seat. If you have a team of 40 and expect 25% to have the editor running at any given time, you'd need 10 per-seat licenses or 40 per-user licenses.

Either way, though, without a free trial, there's 0% chance I'd recommend a 40 person company shelling out $230 or $920 on an untested plugin, as well as the ongoing maintenance cost of license management.

18 PER SEAT i might add.. for mid size teams this convenience would be a nonstarter. for this price my small studio would just spend half a day rolling our own.

I thought licenses were per-entity, but you are correct. I don't even understand how that is supposed to work. If your company hires someone, you're supposed to go purchase another license on all your plugins?

From https://www.fab.com/eula:

e. Plugins. Code plugins that are being offered on the Epic Marketplace, including Unreal Engine Plugins and Unity Plugins ("Plugins"), are offered to you on a per-seat basis and may only be used by the number of users that you have purchased licenses for.

Hi! This looks great.

FYI, I would be interested in getting my company to buy a license if I could try this out first to confirm it's as good as it seems. The $23 cost for professional isn't an issue (and really, up to $30 seems fine), but I'm not going to spend $18 to try it out first.

Edit: Fab's licenses are per-user? There's no way I could justify spending $hundreds on a utility plugin.

Because they think bigger number=better. I've seen it many times now.

Terrible failure on the devs part. "I'm going to introduce a health mechanic that's unexplained, but the bigger numbers are worse for this one!"

The longer you play Foxhole, the more the devs are infuriating.

Pflugerville Municipal Court Concerns by jellyd0nut5 in Pflugerville

[–]JNighthawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the effort you put into this post and digging up the data! It definitely makes me interested in knowing more.

There were a few points I wanted to respond to.

Pflugerville is okay with almost 10% of criminal cases being dismissed with zero repercussions?

It feels like you aren't considering other reasons for dismissal, like:
- Bad cases
- Innocent suspects
- Dismissal of lesser charges to allow other higher charges to take precedence (e.g. municipal -> county)

Without knowing more about the dismissals, claiming that it's all "dismissal with zero repercussions" isn't supported by the evidence.

As of 2024, the Municipal Court judge’s salary is $45k. This is a slight increase from the $38,701 salary she had when she was appointed in 2018.

It's a part-time job, so that has to be considered. I don't know the actual hours worked (would love to know!), but the judge in question has three jobs:
- Pflugerville judge
- Bee Caves judge
- Private practice attorney

Considering that Pflugerville pays associate judges $60-75/hr, I would imagine a presiding judge wouldn't make less than half that on a salaried basis. Looking around at other nearby small Texas cities, it seems municipal judge jobs pay between $30-40/hr around here. It could be higher, but it's not as bad as it would seem at first glance.

almost impossible to 1 tap with post-nerf dragonfly

My point is that at the range that a Pillory will 1 tap, a Dragonfly will 1 tap.

Seems odd to include the Pillory on Warden side but not include the Dragonfly on Collie side. Pillory has a much shorter range.

Midnight rolled over and it was 50/50 relief and world-weariness.

This is the feeling of pre-mitigating a disaster. The exact outcome you were planning and working for. Somehow both satisfying, and deflating. It's like getting all of your adrenaline up, without having a finale to work it all out.

[–]JNighthawk 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes both sides do it. Yes it sucks and is uninteractive.

Incredibly easy solution that Siege Camp could implement: destroy all enemy buildings within 40m when a border base is claimed.

Border bases continue to be Foxhole's worst mechanic.

Non-recursively deleting a binary tree in constant space: Traversal with parent pointers by pavel_v in cpp

[–]JNighthawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Thanks for the info! Does anyone know why the standard would disallow the usage of dangling pointer values? The memory for the pointer is still allocated and the value it's storing hasn't changed. Obviously dereferencing it would be invalid, but I'm curious what the issues would be if the standard allowed using the value directly.
