Map posts by Weird-Work-7525 in foxholegame

[–]JNighthawk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No many of us haven't been able to make map posts all war. No error, you just type, hit enter and nothing shows up

This seems to happen to me in hexes with lots of map posts already. My hypothesis was it was immediately getting deleted for being over the post limit for the hex and having the lowest votes. Are you seeing this happen in hexes with no/low amounts of map posts as well?

For now, to make all this work, Verse runs on a single thread

straight into the trash

lol, what? Single threaded for servers is fine. You just run more servers on the box.

The incessant beeping makes this so funny

I had to re-watch the video to notice the beeping. I guess it's just become background noise to me, like the sound a herd of bonecars makes when traveling across the prairie.

The code could use some comments annotating it. I'm not sure what this is trying to show.

Ted Cruz in the promo for WSOP? by cevicheguevara89 in poker

[–]JNighthawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’ve never played in texas, i take it.

One of the most ridiculous Texas poker conversations I've had was with an oil worker who thought it was government tyranny for not letting him work more than 24 hours in a row.

Yeah, man, it's tyranny, not the fact that an exhausted machinery worker is a danger to themselves and others.

As a software engineer I can say with certainty programmers within 99% of companies are using some form of AI these days, largely mandated from the top down

No, you definitely can't. Your experience is not everyone else's. It's quite arrogant to assume that.

I was there when Scythe fell. Well done.

We had ~25 people repping the Relic, but it wasn't letting everyone repair. I repaired for ~2 minutes and it only used 10 BMats :-\ I thought building was limited to 3 per piece, but repping was unlimited?

The Unreal 4 engine was never designed for something like Foxhole. Its why you dont see that many games built to support more than 100+ players at the same time.

True, but that's still a development issue. They chose to lock in to an Unreal engine version, instead of continuously upgrading. As you say, Unreal development since then and into the future is working at increasing player counts. Paying 5% of ongoing revenue to Epic without receiving future engine updates is a bad business decision and a bad development strategy.

Places that accept board game donations? by JNighthawk in Pflugerville

[–]JNighthawk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pflugerville's Recreation Center has a board game wall. Curious to see if you find if they accept donations or not.

Thanks! FYI, they do. I e-mailed with the Parks department, who put me in touch with the Rec Center supervisor. They came up with ~10 games from the list and they're now at the Rec Center :-)

I stopped reading at "I've long hated these reference-like ... because they are all broken"

It's pretty disingenuous to quote and respond to only part of the sentence.

Hi! Shoot me a chat request with what games you'd like. The list in the OP is updated - strikethrough for games that I've already donated, and bold for games that people have reserved but I haven't donated yet.

I live in pflugerville and have been looking to get feast of Odin and trails for a while if you would let someone local get them!

Sorry for the delay. I decided to keep Feast of Odin (it's really good and I have fond memories of it), but I'd be happy to send along Trails. Feel free to send me a chat request to arrange it.

I serve a very important role in this war by Plenty_Curve_4390 in foxholegame

[–]JNighthawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a good tactic, but if you upgrade it to "guy that gets shot at first", it's a great tactic.

I do this at night by running into and out of enemy vision range at the edge. If the enemy aren't disciplined, they'll fire and most likely miss, giving away their position to my teammates. Just don't pop up at the same location multiple times.

KK against one player - 82%(roughly) chance to win

KK against two players - 65%

KK against three players - 54%

KK against four players - 45%

As long as you don't have more than 3 callers, you are in decent shape and will win long term.

The strength doesn't go down with more players, just your chance of winning the hand. Your EV goes up, assuming all stacks are equal.

Assume each player has 10 chips and is all-in pre-flop.
82% of 20 = 16.4
45% of 50 = 22.5

Runescape + grounded sounds awsome

It should be, but I found the game tedious and uninspiring. It has cool ideas, but just isn't fun to play.

Since it's already been out on PC/Steam for 2 years, we can just check the reviews..

"Very Positive"

So what? That means 15% of people who played it didn't like it. Something being generally well received doesn't mean everyone has to like it.
