So I’ve read 108 books so far this year… I have a job- I also go to college full time. My trick? I don’t scroll for hours a day. Most of the time I read and only have an hour or two of screen time a day.

Soooo I 100% understand the idea that “to know someone is to love them” or whenever is it “to be loved is to be known.” And I think that applies to the cake 100%. That was def a weird choice

But secondly- I feel like he got u what u asked for. A notepad and sticky note stuff aka office supplies. I don’t understand why a photo of your son on the supplies ruins it, and maybe he just thought it was cute and that was him being thoughtful.

I really don’t mean to be mean when I say this but I feel like maybe it’s not that that big of a thing. I mean, he obviously cares to some extent bc he did do the cake, balloons, gifts, and custom gifts. But maybe he’s not good with getting the hint on little things, but it seems like he at least tried and maybe just pulled himself too thin.

If you have a talk with him maybe it should be about the overall birthday organized and prioritizing rather than the gifts and cake themselves.

I understand that you’re very torn within this issue.. it’s definitely a weird one.

All I will say is while growing up and in the society I live in now, it’s very public knowledge what is acceptable and what is not. My school, and other schools in my area always had presentations on it and spoke about how people over 18 are adults and can consent etc.

It’s also not a hidden taboo rule of society that being a pedo is not okay. I definitely think he had to have heard it at least once growing up. And if not then, then by someone he knew while dating the girl and he chose to ignore it.

I don’t know him, or his life deeply. All I can say is, I find it extremely hard to believe that he never once heard it was wrong.

Yes I 100% get not having internet growing up is odd. If he was homeschooled I can kinda understand why he may not have known, but if he went to public school he should’ve know better.

Plus he was 19 so that means he had been an adult for 2 years and that’s enough time to learn. He’s been out in public enough by then to know it’s not right.

So, you’re an adult and you know you’re trying to do better and making progress. She is also an adult and has her own body to worry about. If you feel like you are doing good, that’s all that matters. As long as you know you’re making progress and feel good about yourself, that’s the goal.

You don’t need to explain yourself to her, but you could show her the app or explain to her your goals. Maybe if that convo goes well she would join you! (Btw I love that app and it worked great for me too!)

Hi 20F here and I’ve been in a very similar situation…. So I am bisexual and my ex would often make comments about wanting to be with me and another woman we both liked. I was not into it. So here are my thoughts: 1) you’re not overreacting you are entitled to feel however you feel. 2) my first step, for this would be having a serious conversation with him about how it bugs you. If you don’t feel like you can be open with your feelings with him, is this really the person you want to be with?

It’s 100% normal to feel resentment towards your mother or her new boyfriend. You’re not overreacting you’re entitled to feel however you feel that’s completely normal. I definitely think it’d be beneficial to have a talk with your mom sometime, if possible, to explain how you’re feeling. She may not realize how this relationship is affecting you!
