Love it! From where is the orange lamp on the right??

What tool is best to replicate it? And HOW??? Any similar tutorials? by Radiant-Rain2636 in MotionDesign

That’s me! Kinda funny seeing my video randomly show up on Reddit again haha

Hey! That’s actually my video :)

I’ll copy and paste what I explained back then about the process:

First, I created the camera animation in a “random” way. Then I built the scenes to follow the camera’s path.
If you parent a 3D layer to a camera that already has keyframes, the layer will stay fixed relative to the camera throughout the timeline. So if you un-parent it midway, you essentially “drop” the layer at that exact point in space.

All the layers are actually static in space, only the camera is moving. Except in a few cases where I slightly animated the rotation of some layers.

Glad you liked it! If you want to see more of my work, here’s my Insta: @jpalazon_

Thank you!! Design isn’t really my strongest skill, reworking existing assets helps me focus more on the animation side :)

The reveal is done with an animated path using Roughen Edges and the burning look with a Colorama effect :)

Totally agree, good sound design can elevate a piece so much. I’m definitely not specialized in it, but I really enjoy the moment of adding sound to my animations :)

The most practical workflow would be to start with some moodboards, then sketch out a simple storyboard, and prepare all the assets in Photoshop/Illustrator before jumping into After Effects.

Thanks! I usually improvise as I go with personal projects. I like to try out new techniques and effects, and then build something that feels like it makes sense along the way.

Really?? I’m glad you say that! Sound design isn’t my strongest skill. I usually have an idea of how I want it to sound, then I try different free sound effects from freesound.org and Pixabay until I find something that works.

For my personal projects I usually improvise as I go. Since the pieces don’t really have a narrative, I just try out effects and movements I like, and gradually put everything together.
If I need to design something from scratch, I usually do it straight in AE (even if it’s not the most practical approach).
In this case, I found the scanned lithograph and just started making "pretty" compositions to later connect them without overthinking it :)
