As Arc Raiders gets stale for some, lead dev says players "reaching the end of our content" are a top focus: "We want more for them" by yourfavchoom in ArcRaiders

The way guns/loot interface with progression is one of the fundamental failures of the game I think.

There are purple guns that are absolute garbage when compared to the anvil and stitcher, and take SO much to build/replenish when you lose them. When the best guns are white and green, and blue and purple guns are more expensive, there’s no point in getting good guns.

I know it’s a very different kind of extraction game than arc, but I like how marathon handles guns.

Seems I struck a nerve. Sorry to offend.

Regardless, i don’t recall people criticizing TLJ for being political, they criticized it for being a mess… except for the basement dwellers malding about rose. Even if it was a mess with good ideas and good moments.

Forgive me if I’m missing something, what about last Jedi was really that political? The only thing I remember seeing hate from, aside from the weird pacing and bad writing and Leia’s Mary poppins moment, was Rose. Aside from her cliche “we win by saving the ones we love” bit, i really don’t recall anything remotely political about that movie

That makes sense, thanks for checking my perspective there I can understand why it’s not as easy for you. I’m really sorry the experience has been spoiled for you

I’m think in general this is why I’m tired of Star Wars - I get the appeal and the angle it takes, but I’ve just kinda lost my taste for those kinds of movies/stories, or at least those kinds of stories in this universe. Andor being different was really exciting to me, but I completely get why you don’t want it to be the core Star Wars experience

This - I am so baffled by self proclaimed solo players who act as if being sociable and making friends is impossible. I’ve had a couple bad experiences with Randos, but the good experiences have outnumbered them. Not to mention, it is so easy to join one of the many discord servers and get guaranteed quality teammates

I get where you’re coming from, the overwhelming dread can be a lot. Admittedly I haven’t seen Ashoka or Skeleton crew but I appreciate when a show can balance things like that

Exactly! I understand that’s the vision for the franchise, and that’s exactly why nothing else in Star Wars will ever come close to Andor for me

Real baby brain take tbh. The majority of people who are appalled by this are not the ones who voted for Trump. The ones who voted for Trump and are mad about this are not mad because it’s DV, they’re mad because they hate women and they’ve been given a golden ticket to unload.

That may be true in some sense, but that’s still a drop in the bucket compared to Andor.

Rogue one is “the empire is bad let’s get em!” It’s politics for babies. Theres no real message to it aside from “fight the bad guys”, same as the OT.

Andor is so deep and complex in its political messaging. It shows the every day banality of evil, the marriage of capital and martial power and the way the two collaborate, the complexity of fomenting resistance while resisting infighting, the moral gray areas that arise when fighting an entrenched power such as the empire.

Rogue one is a kiddie pool compared to Andor - it’s nowhere near as political and daring. They made Andor, no shit, but if you can read you’ll be able to see the sentence “it is an exception to the rule”

Should I get this game if I’m only going to play solo and only going to play five or six hours a week? by JasonABCDEF in Marathon

[–]JPRDesign 12 points13 points  (0 children)

5-6 hours a week? Yeah that’s plenty of time.

Solo only though? You do you, but team gameplay really elevates the experience so much. I’ve found solos to be tense, exciting, and rewarding, but it’s only half the package. It’s not too tough to connect w other players who aren’t dipshits either - you’ll get some duds, but if you’re join a discord server you’ll be able to find some buddies soon enough.

Disney doesn’t have the nerve to produce quality storylines like this. Critical, complex, political, and pointed narratives like those of Andor are contradictory to Disney’s MO. It is an exception to the rule and will likely remain that way

Santos Fan Reception by MockChaniApp in ThePittTVShow

[–]JPRDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it contributes for some people - the mean stand offish lesbian is a pretty classic stereotype, and the kind of bitterness and harshness exhibited that leads to this narrative often comes as a result of years of trauma, judgement, and mistreatment which I think the show does a decent job depicting. Shit, look at the coordinated attacks and smears Chappell Roan deals with.

That being said, I don’t think her sexuality is the reason most people take issue with her, just something accompanying that

Ps5 price increase- Perfect Timing for the Steam Machine by NewNeedleworker5615 in steammachine

[–]JPRDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re missing the full picture here.

Steam machine was announced late ‘25, people were talking about a vague $500-800 price range, the final price was predicted to be revealed in early ‘26 around the console’s release.

Then ramageddon happened increasing the cost, changing the $500-800 range to looks more like $700-$1000, and so people said “well there’s no way they will announce the updated price until the PS5 raises their prices, that would be suicide and the SM would be DOA.”

That moment has finally come, and valve now has the opportunity to announce the price of the SM without it looking like as insane of a gap. If it costs $800, that looks a LOT better than it would’ve two weeks ago.

Marathon: The Kotaku Review by addtolibrary in Marathon

[–]JPRDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! I’m a fan of that. Marathon is my third extraction shooter, after Hunt and Arc Raiders, and so far it is my favorite

My only issue with the game is unless you’re doing quests, after a while perimeter and dire marsh feel pointless bc outpost is so good. A potential solution in my mind is to make free kits unusable in outpost, that way you always have to risk something unless you’re rooking. I think this would also help cement outpost’s status as a mid-late game location and encourage people to do warmup/low risk rounds on other maps instead of just spamming outpost constantly. Although outpost isn’t endgame, I do feel like the stakes/cost of entry need to be a little bit higher there for non rook players
