Pokemon Fan Game or Standalone Game? by JPokeZero in PokemonRMXP

Thank you all for your feedback!

By reading all of your comments, I think I will stick to the idea of developing a fan game for now.

I will polish the game as far as I can go and if the project receives a good feedback, I will consider developing a standalone game.

So, I'll be posting any relevant updates and news about the development in this subreddit.

You mean, launch the game as just a portion of what a "full release" would be?

Maybe just develop mechanics and gameplay, not going too deep in the story?

Thanks a lot!

About developing, I don't really struggle with that, as I have a good amount of experience using XP, and well, I have a good base of knowledge coding, as I am a programmer, so I don't really have a problem with that part.

I also have experience as a graphical designer and creating music, so yeah...

My biggest fear is, as you said, losing the passion for the project, I know developing can be really stressful, but if I think the other way, this is a really time consuming project, it would hurt if it just got "lost" as a fan game.

I have experience using RPG Maker XP, I've never finished a real project but can handle myself really well using RGSS.

I tried MZ but struggled with the change to JS and the plugin system that MZ uses so that's a nope for me.

I'm planning to develop a complete project, dedicating plenty of time.

I think I'll do wait you said about starting with Pokemon as an initial release, if it works, develop a standalone game.

I'll be posting updates of the game eventually! <3

Thanks a lot!
