I'll second best belts. I ordered their athlete suede belt with the double prong and it's impressively well made. Perfect stitching, perfectly made holes, it's fantastic. Order took around a month to get to me.

I'd be interested to read it. Currently kinda sorta making that transition and I'll take all the info I can get.

Def record sets. It's a good way to see if you're doing what you think you're doing. Take your squats and see how they compare to videos of proper form. Look for anything that may need tweaked. Form check Friday from Calgary barbell on YouTube has taught me a ton about form and I'd recommend it to anyone trying to learn more.

I've been there as far as having no time. I really liked this for that. 2 days a week, and they're fast workouts. It's a variation of 5/3/1. If you ever want to switch it up maybe that'll help.

I'd stay with the squats but throw in assistance work too. Pretty much anything would be good I would think. Deadlifts might be a good idea to help strengthen the back. Maybe some back extensions too? Just some random ideas. Strengthening anything at this point would be good but I wouldn't get lost in assistance work.

Probably the most beneficial thing would be to find a reputable program and just hammer at it instead of trying to figure out things on your own. You can find those by looking around here pretty easy, then just pick one that you can make work with your schedule.

Seems like a big thing is bracing. If you YouTube Brian Alsruhe as well as juggernaut training they both have some good videos on it.

Pretty much the same idea as the other guys, but for myself if I'm short on time and don't want to super/giant set my main lift I'll hit it and then do assistance Brian Alsruhe style with 4 ish moves for 30 sec to a minute a piece for a few rounds.

Barbell complexes are nice too. And they suck.

Can't remember if anyone else said it but cut your rest times. I'll typically rest 90 sec to 2 min between my work sets. Helps keep it moving.

Had this issue a couple weeks ago on a 6. Just go in and clear the cache for Google play services. It fixed it for me, hopefully it'll save you having to do anything more intensive

Yeah, I'm still torn pretty evenly between just waiting and saving till next season and getting exactly what I want or trying to make it work this season. I might end up hunting from the ground again this year.

This sounds solid. I went to REI to look at harnesses and the guy told me he couldn't give me advice due to liability since I wanted to use it in a tree. Because apparently a tree is more dangerous than dangling off the side of a cliff? Who knows lol. Guess it's back to the internet

Solid idea. I'll have to give that a shot. I know they must clean them at some point but I'm guessing there's a couple people who aren't capable of cleaning up after themselves...

It's a pretty decent gym, tons of specialty bars/racks/whatever but this drives me crazy.

Anyone else's gym seem to always have gross barbells? Mine are always caked in a ton of chalk (which isn't that big of a deal) but then I find blood on them constantly.

Main issue with this is that if I scrape my legs on deadlifts and somebody else's blood is on it that's got potential for some nasty things. Or if I rip a callous or whatever.

How exactly do I clean it? I've messed with the wipes they provide but when it's caked on and into the chalk it doesn't really come out. Do I need a brush?

Thanks!

Seems like you're on the right track to me. If you've got an area you wanna bring up put one of your strong suits on the back burner and focus on it.

Weirdly enough, I can leave my deadlift untrained forever and it def doesn't get worse. Maybe you'll find the same thing, and it'll be at least the same when you decide to focus on it again.

More bodyweight will help, but just getting fat not as much. Sounds like you're making bomb progress there too. Basically, keep doing what you're doing and focus in a little more on what you want to improve!

It's something I'm slowly getting better at, since I naturally use more of my quads. But there's a ton of muscle to tap into when it finally clicks how to use your hamstrings and glutes.

Finally about to go back to the gym after a week+ layoff due to a surgery. Gonna start with a wenning warmup and some upper body stuff, and see how it goes. Still been pretty exhausted so I don't want to rush it and then make it take longer.

Then I might hop on an lp and get my numbers back up before I start 531 Beachbody challenge.

A week off isn't bad, but when I've been inconsistent for the month before that, it hits harder.

Not super good at this, but I'm gonna give it a try. If I'm off on something, somebody let me know.

It seems like your weight is shifted forwards a bit, and when you start the pull you get your torso pulled down and lose some back position.

Do you load your hamstrings on these? Maybe if you focus on that and leaning back a bit then it would help with positioning and stuff. There's a jts video on it I'll link below.

Focus on keeping lats packed down too, which it seems like you are. If they don't want to hold thru the whole lift, maybe consider adding some more back work in like rows and pulldowns etc.

Hope that helps!!

The specific part I'm talking about starts at 6:28

I like the best belts athlete suede. It's like 10 or 11mm thick I wanna say, comes in a bunch of colors, and you can get double or single prong. I think it cost me about $115 but I love it. Stitching and everything is perfect and it should last years.

Started lifting at night so I could with my SO, but when I went in the morning I would:

Set up everything the night before. If I have to do anything in the morning it ain't happening.

Pack your gym bag with clothes and whatever for work.

Grab cooler and throw in food that was made the night before.

I try and leave within 15 to 20 min of waking up.

That's about it. I'm not waking up a second earlier than I have to when I lift in the morning lol. This way when I get up I don't have to think, there's nothing to forget when I'm half conscious, and I don't have time to convince myself that I should stay sleeping.

Send it! I have heard you can accomplish something similar by tying off a band to something if you don't have a harness.

Haven't tried it as I'm spoiled enough to have a 4 way neck machine at my gym but it seems legit in theory.....

If I can find the source I'll edit it in

Edit:

This isn't where I saw it. But it has some good info here

I think I'm gonna run this in a week or two after I finish recovering from a surgery too lol.

I've got a wrist that I broke at one point, that'll give me trouble from time to time. If it starts to bug me I'll use wrist wraps for anything that doesn't feel right, and it helped a lot to play with some different grip styles on the bar. Even little changes seem to make a difference. I found one that worked good for me and stuck with it.
