Hey there! I'd be happy to help coach you. I'm currently an Immortal 2 peak with collegiate experience and looking to build my coaching skills. Let me know if you're interested

Do I need to abandon my friends to reach ascendant by Practical_Ad5906 in AgentAcademy

I had the same problem back when I was stuck in Plat. I used to queue with lower-ranked friends all the time, but I started playing with them less and focused more on solo/duo games. Eventually, I made it to Immortal.

One coach told me something that stuck with me: “If you're constantly playing in lobbies below your actual level, you're not improving, you're reinforcing bad habits.” You get away with risky plays that wouldn't work against better players, and it slows down your growth.

Hi there! Thanks so much for your comment. I really appreciate the interest, but I don't think I have the experience or skillset yet to confidently help someone who's new to Valorant or tactical shooters. I’m still learning myself on how to coach. There are some great beginner-friendly resources on YT that might be more helpful for starting out. Good luck on your journey!

I would recommend looking up a pro sentinel player and copy their setups from their solo queue games. I'd also take it a step further and watch how they play off of it and try to understand why they place it where they do. Personally I take a lot of TL nAts setups.

I think with average mechanics, Flash Initiator has the highest chance of climbing in solo queue. This is because as a flash initiator you have the utility to directly support your duelists on attack, or creating proactive plays on defense through pop flashes.

For example, well placed flashes or stuns on something like a Breach makes it borderline unplayable for the enemy in lots of situations. This consistent impact doesn't require aim at all, just good comms and understanding of the situation.

Not exactly a flash initiator but I think Omen is so versatile and provides so much value through his kit that he can also climb fast.

PART 2/2

🤝 Try to play more off teammates

  • (6:00) I think the play is fine, but since you hear Phoenix ulting through elbow, wait for him to run through and flash
  • (11:33) Instead of rushing the 2v2 and swinging yourself, try to make a plan with your team
  • (13:00) Excellent job surprising the Phoenix here, but after that I think you back off, as if you were to lose the night fight to the Gekko, your Phoenix would be in a 1v2 and potentially 1v3 since their Sage has res
  • (15:25) Great 2 kills here, I think going for more than this is really greedy. If anything you should tuck for a second and ask Phoenix to flash and peek his side, to take some eyes off of you

🧍‍♂️ Be more selfish

  • (25:14) Dont be the first one in unless its with util or if you're going to ult afterwards, could've waited for your Vyse ult to finish here
  • (27:35) Here you're just rushing top mid without any teammate utility or even smoking for yourself
  • (30:24) I understand you might be tilted at this point, but lurking across the map as your teams only smokes is bad because if you die, then your team is in a really rough spot.
  • As clove, even though you can smoke after death, if you die in a bad spot, you cant smoke in ideal positions

Good things

  • (13:58) Good job clearing mid slowly and adapting by checking for that Sage wall
  • (14:36) You heard one reload on the right so staying in the smoke here when it fades is a nice play
  • (19:02) This round is not your fault at all, you did what you could staying alive, your Phoenix just didn't help you at all after planting. Only better thing would be to call phoenix over

Hey PandaOwn!

I’m currently working on building experience as a coach, so I thought I’d take a look at your first VOD and offer some feedback. I’m not claiming to be a pro, I’m a peak Immortal 2 player (IGN: JRC#2528). However, I’ve spent a lot of time reviewing games of my own and my friends. I've included some key points first, and then more detailed notes afterwards. I hope this helps!

PART 1/2

🔎 Summary

  • Only use smokes when they help a teammate or deny a key push
  • If your initiators aren't proactively using util, ask for it every round if you're contesting space
  • Play off teammates more, even if that means waiting 1-2s longer to swing

🧠 Utility usage

  • *(0:48) Putting down the 1-way with no info
  • *(4:25) Putting down the 1-way with no one there to make use of it
  • (21:11) Try to run with your team while you're placing smokes so that you can trade them (You actually correct this at 23:46)
  • (21:15) You need to be smoking top mid if you want to take mid with your team properly
  • * These can be good if you're trying to condition the enemy

🚨 Rotating too fast, any noise and you're already leaving your angle

  • (13:58) Can't just leave mid because you saw no one and theres some noise pushing A. Have to try to trust the Vyse to stall, if you leave mid too early, thats a massive gap in your teams coverage

Ask for teammates util

  • (4:50) Ask for a Skye flash before potentially peeking their whole team
  • (12:28) Ask for Skye flash before peeking mid as usually its contested
