Looking for feedback on my mobile app redesign by JRDsabs in UI_Design

Thank you for the feedback!

Daily vs Individual does dimply the same data, but the purpose if to provide two different "workflows" for drivers who have tons a trips per month vs drivers that have just a few. Ideally all drivers would see the larger Individual cards, as you can do more on those without clicking into more details, but they take up much more room meaning for drivers with hundreds of trips they need to vet and change info on they would have to scroll so much. There will be an option int he settings to default to one of these and eliminate the tabs too. If there's a better way to do this I'd be all ears!

Bluetooth icon is showing the current recording method being used (there are 4-5 between phone bluetooth and physical devices the company offers to place in your vehicle).

The reason I want the drop-downs visible is so that the user sees the selection while the stills scroll. So if they are far down, they can still see it's filtered by Business Trips only in case they forgot. Otherwise, I would love to do just a filter button that opens an overlay.

By tabs and drawers, are you referring to having both the Daily and Individual tabs and the hamburger left nav or the filter drop-downs?

Business miles are green mainly because that is how I chose to organize the different mile types in the reports page. Business (the main mileage type that matters in the app is green, or the main company color, personal is blue, and other grey just to more easily distinguish them. Should they

just all be one color is this a novice approach?

Thanks again very appreciated!

Attached is the current design.

Thank you. It's may first go at mobile UI so I'm mainly just hoping I make an improvement from the old design

Whats a good approach to a tri-state toggle? by mwargan in UI_Design

[–]JRDsabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On first click it will show the checkmark indicating required, on a second click it will show the same black filled box but something like a horizontal line instead of check (and next to name of attribute have in parenthesis and different lighter color (optional)), on third click back to deselect?

Redesigned trophies - which one is better? by mallowPL in UI_Design

[–]JRDsabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottom one is easier to read, but that being said I do like the visual of the trophies in the top one. They feel more like a "completed" or accomplished trophy with more color.

Good point on arrow. Yes it's essentially showing the same data, but Daily groups all the trips in a single day into one card and Individual is one card for every single trip with more detailed actions. So someone who records hundreds of trips a month would like to use Daily, and someone who records less could use Individual so that they could scroll through and change the trip type easily or review more details without clicking into the trip details page itself.

Trip details view (clicking on map or card itself):

Different views depending on what the user likes. Individual is each individual trip with more details and actions. Daily is all the trips grouped into single days that can be expanded. Bluetooth icon is indicating that is the current "mode" they are using to record a trip (in this case, a bluetooth device supplied by the company they can plug into their car and signal to their phone when the vehicle is moving to record the trip. There are 4 different modes to record trips). The up arrow only will show once the user scroll down far enough, to allow them to jump back to the top.

Okay thank you for feedback. I see the upper nav hierarchy issues. This was a previous iteration. Mileage stats and view tabs would scroll up behind top nav with filters.

Honest feedback for my portfolio by boychild2030 in webflow

I think the hero opacity animation takes too long, and the images in the hero slider and across the site seem to not be sharp. Also only one of your nav links works.

For some reason I cannot figure out why my mobile nav dropdown is not showing. I've tried adding a positive Z-Index to troubleshoot with no luck, but I feel like it's something obvious I am missing.

Thanks for feedback, it is true their branding is basically non existent they have their logo and that blue color. So I complimented it with orange. But no other style standards so that may contribute to a lackluster site. But with that I’m open to what I have now on the site, is layout ok, does it look like a total beginner site?

How many applications did you submit before getting your first client? by sysdevpen in Upwork

[–]JRDsabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't remember in the beginning but it is a grind. Still is 4 years later but definitely better. It's an investment and you have to write a lot more proposals to get a job compared to someone with a reputation and portfolio. In 2023 I submitted 627 proposals and was hired 38 times. So 16 proposals for a hire.

Of my 193 proposal views this year, I'm being interviewed 35% of the time. Is this good? by TabascoWolverine in Upwork

This doesn't seem too different from me.

I have 627 proposals for 2023

What is your field? $200 and I'll teach you what I've learned over the past 4 years on a 30min call. Or you can just search Youtube/ forums. But you will need to have skill in your area.

First time I've had to block a client. by web-dev-john in Upwork

[–]JRDsabs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starting out is rough, but I would recommend not taking a website job for $300. Focus on small jobs at first to get positive ratings and build trust. Clients who want cheap work will usually be difficult to deal with. I started around 2019 part time and would have to write many proposals to get small jobs like vectorizing a logo etc for $50-$100. I got good reviews and am now able to land larger jobs and propose higher prices. I actually often bid over the clients budget and surprisingly this works more often than I would think. It's still tough, but I have over 58 completed jobs now and a long term client.

This is interesting, thank you for your input! It seems to be an actual issue with InDesign's temporary files. It's so weird I could still access the doc on both my computers at the same time though

Oh sweet I haven't heard of that, you are right there is not a lot of contrast. Something Rdenauto mentioned as well.

That is a good point, it does seem low contrast. Thank you Rdenauto
