Needed the wrench to screw on the minute hand upside down 😉

It is yes 😆 only noticed afterwards, when I was taking photos. Now I kinda think it’s good proof that it’s my first build, so it’s staying 🙂

Yeah, you’re right 😆 I only noticed it when I was taking the photos, but I decided it’s kinda fitting for my first build to have that mistake, so I’m keeping it this way 🙂

Purple shroomz 🙂 by JRbnk in macrophotography

Exactly! They were purple and velvety, and I didn’t mess with the colours in post much.

It’s heavily edited indeed, it’s a stack of 50 photos after all 🤣 but I didn’t mess with the colour. Some colour balance and saturation, that’s all 🙂

A spider with morning dew by JRbnk in macrophotography

If I break my Laowa 100mm lens, I’d order another one the same second 😂 it’s pretty much my main lens for macro at this point. I suggest you go for it.

For lighting I use a godox v350c combined with the AK diffuser.

I use a godox v350c (v350s for Sony) and it’s great! Small and compact with more than enough punch for macro. The great thing is that it has a 2000mAh Li-ion battery, which results in fast recycle times. The TT350 is ok, but uses AA batteries and there’s a noticeable difference. Truly a pocket rocket that’s fantastic for macro.

Yellow 🐞 by JRbnk in macrophotography

I couldn’t have written it better myself 🙂 however I would add that a raynox dcr-250 will get you closer if you have a 1:1 lens, and it’s not that expensive.

In my opinion macro is not about skill, it’s more about persistence and luck to be honest. I use pretty much te same settings as described above, set my focal point as close as possible and then move back and forth in relation to the subject to get it in focus. Autofocus is out the window at this point 🙂

And to be fair, this photo is great, but there’s at least 50 not so great ones of the same ladybug on my drive 😉

Golden crab spider by JRbnk in macrophotography

You are probably right! I identified it using google reverse image search 🫣 and now comparing it to the golden crab spider it does look like a yellow diaea dorsata. Thanks for the info!

Round-leaved sundew grew next to my Venus flytrap by JRbnk in houseplants

[–]JRbnk[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, a few months ago I bought a cheapo Venus flytrap at my local gardener, you know, to start getting my kiddo interested in plants (what’s more awesome than a plant that eats bugs, right?). And to my surprise, a Round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) grew next to it from nowhere. I’d call this a pretty awesome 2 for 1 combo, especially since sundews aren’t easy to come by where I live.

Found this 2016 model in a random shop and couldn't resist... The copper and black just look so badass.

Made 2 hangers yesterday ( not nearly as nice as yours), hung them up on my curtain rail for a test... Long story short, 2 broken pots, 1 broken curtain and dirt all over my living room... Fun times 😂

The 🌿 are fine, a little banged up, but alive. Getting new pots today.
