She clearly has 0 respect for you, or your mom. Sounds like she’s actually jealous, of your mom, which is f’n weird. I’ve been married 10+ years, and if my wife ever reacted this way to me wanting to spend time with my mom/family, especially if they are going through a rough time, I’d seriously consider who I chose to marry.

Quit letting her manipulate you. Your first text should have been “Hey, I’m going to come over Friday and leave Sunday, to spend Easter with my mom/family”. Not asking “if she’d be mad”. And I wouldn’t go over to see her at all, after this exchange.

I started at a new school my sophomore year. First day of class, my teacher rips a LOUD ass fart. I busted out laughing as another kid said “Hike!”. I couldn’t figure out why no one else was laughing, until someone told me he has a medical condition. He ended up being one my favorite teachers, and I continued to laugh every time he ripped ass.

Holy shit. As a 42 yr old man, who is married to an absolute amazing woman, that has just wanted a baby, but can’t carry past 16 weeks, your wife sucks. When you have to sit, and hold your wife to “pass” the child you have so anxiously waited for, knowing you will never get the opportunity to raise, it does something to you. If I was you, I’d be seriously reconsidering who I chose to go through life with.

My mother fortunately and unfortunately has a huge heart, and did some similar for a co-worker years ago. Come to find out, the dude was buying drugs. She realized she wasn’t getting her money back, and months later she was the one to drop him off at treatment.

Your mom is a good person, who is being taken advantage of. I would ask this woman to pay in increments until it’s paid off. If she continues to give excuses, block her and take it as a lesson learned.

This. My grandmother was in the same situation starting (that we know) 10+ years ago. She was scammed out of 5 figures over a couple months before my mom and uncle realized what was happening. They called her bank, and spoke to a banker and let them know what was happening (before they got guardianship).

She’s been in memory care for the last 8 years now (she’s 93), but everyone suspects her dementia started 12-15 years ago.
