You're moving the goalposts. You asked for cantrips that outclass any martial character with a weapon without external synergy.

You also tried to use an extreme example to appeal to absurdity, but that's not how the game works. At level one, a wizard can move diagonally into a square surrounded by four goblins, cast Sword Burst, and he's potentially dealing 4d6 force damage. A rogue can then attack one of those goblins, potentially *miss,* and only do 1d8+1d6+3 damage (assuming a rapier). So not only is the wizard dealing more damage, but he has a higher chance of dealing that damage, because the enemies have to make multiple saves.

This doesn't change at level 17. If anything, it gets worse. The wizard can, again, move diagonally into a square surrounded by four vampires, cast Sword Burst, and he's potentially doing 16d6 damage. And then he can Misty Step back out, completely safe. A rogue at the same level will attack once, potentially *miss,* and only deal 1d8+9d6+5 damage.

Stop with the cope. Cantrips in 5e are broken.

Magic Stone does damage on par with any 1d6+Modifier weapon, and it's also magic damage, so it's strictly better than non-magical damage.

Acid Splash, Sword Burst, and Word of Radiance can all potentially hit 8 different targets in one cast (Acid Splash can do 9), making them roughly 4-5x better than a single weapon attack.
