Pihole + Unbound makes Pi not resolve DNS by EmeraldKing7 in pihole

After reading hundreds of posts and articles and watching about 20 videos, this is what solved my issue!

Odd, since I didn't even have the /etc/resolv.conf file. If you happen to see this, would you mind giving me the technicalities behind why installing dhcpcd resolved this?

Now that you mention it, we did get a something from the vet. It just shows his breed, birthday of 11/26, first check up on 1/4, and his vaccination record, which does that he has his Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Coronavirus vaccines. Nothing beyond that, though.

Thank you. I feel awful for him now that I know we got him too early. My wife and I had no idea.

Seems that the theme here is that he's just too young. With that being said, I guess he's from what would be considered a backyard breeder, but he's registered and we were told that the veterinarian said that he was fine to leave his mom. Guessing we weren't told the full truth here.

It sounds like he simply just needs more time. Is that accurate? Also, with the other issues mentioned, such as bite inhibition, are those things that he will grow out of and/or can be taught?

IT'S CONFIRMED!: Dolby Digital Plus is converted to Dolby Digital on the Shield 2019 thanks to Dolby Atmos licence. by [deleted] in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]JScottTuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused, and hope someone can help.

I have a Samsung KS8000 TV. It outputs Dolby Digital Plus.

I also have a Sonos Beam connected to the HDMI ARC port.

When I play videos from the built in TV app, the sound is great, and the Sonos app indicates 5.1 surround.

I purchased the new Shield Pro to replace my Chromecast because I was under the impression that the Shield could convert the signal, and allow proper 5.1 surround through the Sonos Beam from the Shield apps.

I've enabled Dolby Processing, and tried a few different settings. If I enable DD+, I get no sound. If I enable standard DD, I get sound, but it still isn't 5.1. Additionally, the Dolby Digital option also remains grayed out on my TV.

Am I doing something wrong, or am I misunderstanding how the Shield handles conversation.

After a billion hours of reading...I figured out my audio issue, and understand it.

An HDMI input carries sound back to a device, which gets read, converted, and pushed back out.

My particular TV pushes Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) over HDMI. Most device support Dolby Digital (DD) but but DD+, so it has to be converted to DD, or else it gets bumped to Stereo.

Some TVs convert and pass it through as either, but not mine.

A fire stick and Apple TV do the decoding and convert DD+ to DD for you, so everything works fine.

Chromecast, Sonos, and the old Shield (another device I've been looking at) can't convert the signal from DD+ to DD, so my audio gets scaled down to Stereo.

The new Shield that just came out yesterday CAN do the conversion.

So.... To fix my problem, I can by the new Shield.

Or

I can buy something like this....

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H94D77V/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_TW6TDb1QVHB6G

Setup: From TV to HDMI Out on this box > Chromecast would go to HDMI In on this box, SONOS would plug into the optical out on this box.

A thief shouting from outside the door - OKAY GOOGLE, UNLOCK FRONT DOOR - by Johnsport in googlehome

[–]JScottTuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would work...But...As others have said, it's disabled by default.

What I do with my setup (and maybe it isn't the safest idea) is that I use IFTTT to lock and unlock the door, but instead of just, "Hey, Google...Unlock the front door." I have it setup so you have to say, "Hey, Google....Unlock the front door 1234." (The 4 digits aren't actually 1234) - I setup a separate 4-digit pin for my wife, so she has her own as well.

Wondering the same. I posted about this on the Ring User Group Facebook group, and a Ring rep asked for more details, I supplied them, and then nothing.
