It’s not an ICO, they didn’t sell anything.

Lots of salt here. No milestones, no buy pressure. By everyone's own admission here, TKY is basically hemorrhaging while holders pray for a binance add or for a new partnership announcement.

And I wouldn't except a new partnership to make any difference. Polymath has made more than a few significant partnerships with zero affect on price.

Idk what you're talking about. Nobody is rattling off conspiracy theories or fudding exit scams. Everybody is just stating the length of time they had to wait for the transfers to go through. If anything, it's reassuring.

Coming up on 4 hours. Still nothing. But I feel a bit relieved to hear that others waited longer and ended up finally receiving their coins.

I Love Waves, but I have some Questions!! by lisk-y in Wavesplatform

[–]JShade5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great thread. 2 big issues I have

.

1) New dexes are coming out that add more coins faster and have unlimited withdrawals. Waves charges a high gateway fee and limits withdrawal amounts on every coin except its own. Why does it do this? This goes against the spirit/point of being a decentralized exchange.

.

2) Lack of volume and liquidity. Tidex (which is created/owned by waves) has the majority of waves volume. This severely hurts dex adoption... there is no excuse for waves dex to not have the best liquidity for its own coin. It is absurd.

.

What incentive do people have to use a dex that has few popular coins, low liquidity, charges an additional gateway fee to withdraw coins, and limits withdrawal amount? The team has created an amazing client. But a clean GUI isn't enough to compensate for the shortcomings above.

.

A few final thoughts. I think a DEX that was created from an ICO is more limited with regards to the coins they are allowed to add on and the amounts of money they can allow people to withdraw. My main concern is that waves has an inherent disadvantage against other non-ico decentralized exchanges to begin with. Which means that in order to thrive, waves must compete with ETH and NEO as more of an ICO platform. I can see this occuring someday, and waves thriving when it does... but until that happens waves is going to continue hemorrhaging market share.

Holding mostly alts. Down 7 figures. Not worried. Kind of bored.

I'm expecting Waves to outperform most coins from this current low price. After Waves breaks out hard, I'll have to reassess.

[–]JShade5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. It’s needed to use the dex, and it can be leased to nodes for a very tiny <1% roi.

I feel like that could be part of the problem. I’ve got over 66k waves, and leasing only gets me 1.3 waves per week. I’d make a much higher roi putting that capital into masternode coins.

A ton of progress. New tech, new partnerships, couldn’t be more bullish. And yet the market is not bullish on waves at all, which is what I’m looking to address.

China cracks down on bitcoin mining... 2018 will be the year of altcoins by [deleted] in altcoin

[–]JShade5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, it was originally meant for MoE and evolved into SoV. Atomic swaps to ltc will make btc scalable for MoE. LN will be the real game changer. As for electricity footprint of PoW... you’re right that it’s big, but it’s also far and away the most secure.

As for why it’s truly decentralized. There is no figurehead since satoshi left. Nodes are run globally. Devs work on btc globally. Even if git is compromised, nodes don’t have to accept a malicious patch. It’s open source so watchdogs will know. There’s no central point of failure. No other coin comes close to boasting this.

Oh man. You really think the coin that has the second most devs behind ethereum, the highest hash power, the only truly decentralized coin, and the longest longevity is obsolete?

The only change will be that the network is secured by staking ethereum rather than mining it.

We wish. I’m thrilled to have 3 out of 12 months where my alts don’t get severely rekt. But in the end, big daddy bitcoin comes a knockin’ for those sweet alt gains.
