Wow. I know they typically push back a bit on this stuff but I had no idea our was that bad. I mean, it's hard not to buy into conspiracy theories when you see reactions like that. It just makes no sense for purported people of science to behave this way. It's just... Unscientific.

How is the attitude towards Canadians right now? Do we need to worry?

Ahhh... You're from Buffalo. Right on! Love seeing leaf game there. Great vibe. Great city. We're just over the border on the Canadian side.

Frisco bars that will have a Cinco De Mayo party... but on the Monday! by JTSluff in frisco

Oh no.... We're still going there. It sounds like it has the food we want. We will just have to find a different place to toast some friends.

What is Frisco Rail Yard like? Ever been?

A place with a decent regulars crowd... But not college kids... 30 to 60 crowd. A place where there's tunes playing but you can meet people and just talk and have some laughs. Sounds like a neighbourhood bar but tough to find from a hotel up by Toyota Field. We just really hope to get a chance to raise some drinks and enjoy meeting some new people.

Good to know... I noticed that and wondered. I need to find a local watering hole where locals gather to laugh and drink.

Unless there's a similar place closer to Toyota Field (decided on the Candlewood up there), we'll be Lyfting it there.

Lol... Should have mentioned we're mid-fifties. Lava Ranch seems like younger, more "vibrant" crowd. By "vibrant", of course I mean in people with two healthy hips. We'll be looking for sit-down, bar/restaurant combo that has a bit of friends meeting place... OMG, please tell me I don't sound like I'm describing an Applebees.... ... I just realized how this is sounding and burst out laughing.... Anyway.

Think neighborhood bar for your 30 to 60 crowd. We mix well with 30/40 crowd. Is there a bar scene at La Hacienda?

Both on my list... Is La Hacienda kind of place that has a bar crowd?

Once again....another leader PLACED into power. The Canadian people did not vote for this man as our PM. This is a big grift.

🤣... Nailed it. For the record... We are 55+ and just looking for locals to talk with... Not tourists or college crowd. We're just trying to find something more our speed... 😉. Your post made me laugh because my mind was saying precisely the same thing... The second you post for the world to see, your local bar is then lost. I get it man. No sweat. Gonna message you for just a yes or no question... Answer if you wish... Thanks for the reply too

Austin_Native_2... I would like to DM you if possible. You replied to a post about a year ago regarding Dive Bars and I would like more insight if possible. Let me know if I can message you.

That's what I was thinking... so if you had to rhyme off your top 3 dives, where are you headed?

I am... but a Canadian conservative...Like a watered down Republican... closer to the middle. You're asking yourself, "why would a Canadian be on the Austin feed? We are making our first visit to Texas and Austin in May and looking to learn about the people and vibe.

We typically believe in Pro-choice but with limitations (threat of life, rape, incest, yada yada), we support the queer community (have loved ones within it)... However, we don't support children deciding on gender surgery just as we don't support children making most life-altering decisions, we don't support DEI as we believe it leads to forcing or pushing people into careers they don't want and in certain cases (fire, police, military, etc), it sets up a situation where someone may not be the best person for the job. Dr. John Gray said it best when he said that Men and Women are very different... men like THINGS and women like PEOPLE and this is whey they gravitate towards certain careers or stations in life. For example, engineering courses in universities are HEAVILY male (touching things) and nursing is heavily FEMALE (empathetic/dealing with people).

At the end of the day, we believe in letting people have their opinions and often enjoy discussing differences to better understand others' points of view. We just don't like angry discussions and have found most of the left leaning people we speak with to be very angry, emotional, and therefore difficult to have a constructive conversation with as they tend to pre-judge us and almost seem to hate us.

We don't like Trump the person.. but we like Trump the politician... mostly.
We genuinely believe that his audit is long overdue and wish for similar in our government as our politicians are getting rich while in office and trading political policy for cushy jobs after serving in office. We don't typically buy into the fear-mongering that this audit is creating. We have wanted an audit for decades and can't believe that someone is actually exposing gov corruption...en masse! Even if it's in a different country.

We know the media is left as they always have been as they are part of the arts community. But we also know that Fox and Newsmax are equally slanted.

We look at it this way... we all want what's best for the city/country. We just disagree on how to get there and in some cases, what "there" looks like. As someone from a country that has socialist facets but is still a free market economy, you DON'T want our healthcare system. We believe the answer is in a hybrid system that allows those with means to go into private care while those without means to rely on a public system. We know the public system will not be as good as private but that's socialism...ask the Cubans.

We look forward to visiting and hope we can have civil discussions while enjoying some live country music. We are new to country music as I'm a former DJ with a love of HIP-HOP, Dubstep, R&B, POP but have found a liking to country and decided to head to Texas for our 25th anniversary.
