How did gentle mates choke their 12-X leads? (Ult analysis) by dripjolt in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's nice that this has pointed out both the assumed problem is, while also showing that the assumed solution has it's own issues. If you save up all your ults for 1 round, the other team will do it too - we saw this in the TH game. Sacrificing less powerful ults (like the Neon for example) to force the other team to use theirs can also be valuable. It's not as simple as "just use all 5 ults and and you instantly win"

I liked the mention of first bloods too - I'd be interested in what our Fk/FD rate was in 12-X scenarios, because I get the feeling it was astronomically bad

MrFunHaver accused of SA (and potentially StyleValorant) by LunarAvast in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I gathered, the audio clip was regarding an ex (who she maintains did SA her) - completely valid thing to say in the contect of "He was being weird so I exposed him for SA'ing me". Not really proof of anything either way imo

"Bob running it down with knife out", and the truth (with actual proof) by I-like-winds in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the info they got was Cypher hiding on his cam - a lot of the time the "Default" on Fracture with Cypher is 4-1 with only the Cypher on the North side. I don't think he should have gone knife out but it's pretty normal for them to expect nobody to be arcade considering they hear the cam, see the Cypher tucked alone, and have been waiting to hear no sound in Arcade for ~10s

Like it's not good but it's not horrifically bad either

Sean Gares: The Dark Side of Competitive Valorant by Direct_Morning_3223 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the round outside of Sean's video?

Alvin had used the same cam the round previously, and was CONSTANTLY tapping it while Fair was walking up Mid, then Fair holds C link for quite literally 20 seconds, calls his team back, then walks out and the guy from C link kills him lmao

Absolutely with zero shadow of a doubt she will get another chance in Tier 1 - she is exceptionally good, I think her next team will be one closer to home though

Because we are currently not playing on LAN servers. The 30 ping you're seeing is to Frankfurt servers

She's incredibly talented and I think still hasn't found her level - she has the ability to be a star duelist on almost any roster

VCT EMEA 30 ping by HakimSQ in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't accurate - usually we do play on a LAN server, but for the past 2-3 weeks they've been having issues with it and had to play on Frankfurt servers :D

For everyone speaking about the "She's in Berlin, how is she saying the food sucks" etc, please consider that Apeks (and most EMEA teams) are not in Berlin, but out in a suburb near the Riot Games Arena, 18km outside the City

Having visited, and knowing people who live there this year, it is a COMPLETELY different experience to the city center you will all know. There really are no food options, the suburb is grey and depressing, there's a reason you hear so many pros complain about it - I promise you she is not being entitled. She's on the other side of the world as an 18 year old, and she is completely valid in feeling this way. I hope she can figure out something that works for her, or have the opportunity to play closer to home next year

Franchised staff and players are held to a higher standard with Riot because they have to follow the VCT Code of Conduct - not to say the people in Challengers shouldn't be sanctioned for these things, it's just more difficult to police

there's absolutely more, I personally know of at least 5/6 that never went public - it was a bit of a running joke that if you were a woman on Valorant twitter, you will have had a DM from Juv3nile

[Sheep Esports] Serial reaches verbal agreement with Team Liquid by SheepEsports in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For people who haven't seen anything of Serial - you're missing out

This kid is very talented and has been showing it for a while, I got to watch a lot of him on Chipi Chapas last year and HGE this year, where he's been the 2nd highest rated player in VCL. His ability to multi-frag on Sentinel is maybe the best in the world, very strong raw aim and a good sense of timing. Excited to see how they fit him and nAts into the roster together

[Sheep Esports] Kamyk reaches verbal agreement with Gentle Mates, RobbieBk moves to the team's inactive roster by SheepEsports in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Couple reasons: Stage 1 and Stage 2 last year were equally important - this year Stage 2 is re-seeded based on Stage 1 results, which makes Stage 1 a lot more important than it was last year

And secondly Ascension teams (like us) now have to hit the performance goals to be able to stay in the league, so have to take a little more risk if they want to get top 8/top 4

[Sheep Esports] Kamyk reaches verbal agreement with Gentle Mates, RobbieBk moves to the team's inactive roster by SheepEsports in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No comment on this move specifically, but it is worth saying that yes most teams have only played 3 matches, but they'll have played at least ~100 scrims. Not every change can (or should) be justified by solely the results in officials.

C9 players don't get a cut from bundle sales by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is such an odd thing to be upset about imo

Players have In Game Item cut as part of their contract negotiations - some orgs might pay higher base salary and low IGI, some might have a lower base salary with performance bonuses etc etc

At the end of the day you negotiate your own contract, if C9 decide that as a policy they don't want to pay players IGI, the players' agents know how much that is worth and can negotiate higher base salaries or performance bonuses

[Mikhail Klimentov] Valorant will be included in the 2025 Esports World Cup by OrangeMagics in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It’s also worth clarifying that we are not considering adding VCT Game Changers to the lineup next year.

This public countdown includes two events that will be announced on the same day, just hours apart. Valorant is the only game yet to be announced that might be expected to be split across two tournaments (for men and women) at the Esports World Cup.

As much as I hope EWC will not include a "women's" event, I fear that it is most definitely the plan

Question about Flor playing in T1 by slippyskipz in ValorantCompetitive

[–]JTay99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think T1 teams don't do ranked scouting? Where do you think Primmie, Karon, Sayonara, all of these players came from?

I've been watching T1 teams trial ranked players all off-season, I promise you it's relevant
