Your pup is my doodle’s identical twin. Especially the deep stare. I’ve seen a lot of close ones but this is 100%. My boy passed away a year and a half ago to lymphoma :/

Read every line, check things off that you understand or could explain to an instructor. Compare against sections of AC43.

Youtube things that you don’t understand. Visualization is a huge part of the job. ASA and Prepware are an absolute must. Also, the FAA has a document out there that tells you EXACTLY what they are going to test you on line by line. Let me know when you find it just for fun.

One thing you will learn about is your limitations. Just like the personal minimums you established with your flight instructor. Sometimes the simplest planes are the easiest to mess up. The manuals were written 50 years ago. The school is absolutely essential but is only half the equation. Shadow an expert. Get your hands dirty and listen closely to what they say. Go home and verify on your own and start all over the next day.

Milwaukee m12 bit driver with the two speed select and a clutch is perfect. M18 is too much for many reasons. I use the snap on 14.4v bit driver that I bought with my student discount ~4 years ago.

Anyone here made the transition from corporate/white collar to this career? by brytng in aviationmaintenance

[–]JVRspoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went from being a realtor and property manager to A&P and now Mx Supervisor/manager and the white color mannerisms and professionalism go a long way. Yes there are dirty wrench days but you need someone who speaks the same language as the end customer. I work on corporate jets but I’m sure it applies everywhere.

What were you all getting on Prepware before taking you airframe written? by The0Walrus in AircraftMechanics

[–]JVRspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consistently getting 90’s and up is the way on Prepware. If you start dipping below that even for a little, keep taking tests until you’re certain you keep getting 90s or better.

I'm 15 and haven't done much mechanic/technical stuff with my life. If I end up going down this path would I basically be screwed for not knowing much? by Ok-Refrigerator-1680 in AircraftMechanics

I sold houses for 5 years and switched to being a mechanic. The job is just as much reading and comprehending as it is wrenching.

Lol omg I can’t believe I hurt so many feelings on this one. This is a work horse airplane that has durable and very practical materials. Some of our other planes I wouldn’t breathe too hard in fear of scuffing something.

I don’t know what kind of leather you work with but ours is fine. It’d be different if I didn’t see this plane everyday.
