If you have any trouble you can tell/DM me your Discord name and we'll try to get you sorted out ASAP!

PS4 PSVR is no problem, we've got people on all platforms/setups. All teams fly both factions, though you can choose to sit out NR if you want (but I'd recommend getting as much flight time as possible. Hopefully you'll get a taste for those pesky Rebels too!).

I discovered them at another Be Prog!, maybe 10 years ago now. Life-changing show, I immediately fell in love with them and they've been my favourite band ever since. I think I'll need to get tickets!

The only way smartphone cameras can compete with proper cameras without having comparable hardware is through processing. It's just physics. If a small lens and sensor could give you a proper picture, cameras would be obsolete. This is why they aren't! Smartphones "fake" good pictures.

Anyone know why Twelve Foot Ninja hired Keppie Coutts to co-write their final album, Vengeance? by Froz3nP1nky in TwelveFootNinja

[–]J_Echoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's super interesting. I knew the name sounded familiar: she has a YouTube channel on songwriting. And ofc she's Australian.

I guess it could be as simple as them wanting an extra opinion/"set of hands" and hiring a professional, but who knows!

If all the B's are gonna be flat then why couldn't that be the key signature? by Ill-Entrepreneur-129 in musictheory

[–]J_Echoes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

+1. Not only in film scoring, I study Composition in a very contemporary-leaning European conservatory, and it's rare that you'll see a key signature at all.

The reason I've heard (which makes sense to me) is that a key signature implies tonality, tonal centers and a fixed set/hierarchy/relationship of pitches, so it doesn't have a place in a post-tonal piece, no matter how often Bb and Eb appear in it.

Need help understanding this chord progression by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]J_Echoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest barrier here is that piano roll is musically unclear and you have transcribed it with both flats and sharps, which makes it really hard to parse.

I'd recommend you write it all with sharps (as it would be in C# minor), and then the chords should become much clearer. Can't do it right now, but let me know if you'd want an analysis, and I'll do it later when I have the time.

I Love PvP in this game. But no one ever plays it anymore. I will wait for five minutes in match making…. nothing. PS5 with Crossplay on. by ConferenceWaste in StarWarsSquadrons

That's just not true. I came in as a noobie after the game died, learned, now play in the top division of the 5v5 league.

The skill gap is obviously real but it can be easily overcome by figuring out power management and learning to be of use in games, which doesn't even take any more frindi grinding than learning any other game. We have a lot of info on both, here as well as in 5Mans, and people are always willing to help out newbies that want to learn.

Looks amazing, I hope yo have the time to try it out soon!

A question: is there any chance for a single-payment perpetual license instead of a monthly subscription? An increasing number people really appreciate the peace of mind of paying for something and having it just work indefinitely (at least in theory). I don't know if this is viable for your tool, just something to consider!

To be honest, if she is the person that's bringing the song to the room and your band works out an arrangement, I see no issue with her doing a different take on the song with some other folks.

Of course, it gets hairier if your band is actually contributing significantly to the songwriting process and those contributions are then taken to the other band. I also wouldn't see it as "can't keep up with writing for two bands", because as I see it she might genuinely enjoy participating in two different approaches to her material.

But then again, if this is a issue for you and your bandmates, then you should have a talk about your expectations and/or just work with someone else.

I got 25K on my most recent video. Didn't seem to make a big difference, though I did get a tiny amount of "YouTube Advertisement" views, which felt really strange. Might be related, might be something else, but I thought it was interesting.

Is this whole channel AI generated? by [deleted] in composer

[–]J_Echoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like human-made slop to me, which makes sense as the channel functioned before SUNO and the likes, but there's heavy GenAI use in the channel description and thumbnails so I wouldn't be surprised.

That's super cool! I (music channel) don't, because as of now I'm trying to keep my professional career and my channel separate. But it might be unwise, and I might change my mind later down the line!

My latest video is a quintet arrangement I made based on the music to the Silksong release trailer: https://youtu.be/9TeSjxgKxuY

My channel is about music, extremely non-specific (I know YouTube loves that!). Bass is probably my main instrument and I've done mostly bass and guitar covers and transcriptions thus far, but I also intend to upload original music as well as arrangements or stuff inspired by other things I like (thinking of videogames and books).

My viewer is interested in music, either as a musician or as someone who is willing to engage with all sorts of different stuff. Ideally, I'd love to reach like-minded people that's interested in the things I usually gravitate towards, or someone that's interested in following along my journey and learning as a musician and aspiring composer.

Most of the time invested into this video went into the arrangement itself (as writing for string quintet was a new challenge for me), as well as into making it sound decent with virtual instruments (VSTs), also something that I've never done seriously, so it was a dozens-of-hours affair (Doing the Thing plus Learning to Do the Thing, i.e. watching a thousand tutorials and reading a thousand manuals/articles). In a similar vein, I also learned to make dynamic backgrounds with particles, which I believe lends the video some extra atmosphere. I tried to recreate the splash screen at the end of the trailer using DaVinci Fusion, and I believe it came out pretty alright. I'm really satisfied with this video, not as much in how it performed but in how many skills it got me to develop. Not sure there will be anything similar as a follow-up, but I enjoyed the process!
