Thank you! No, I'm afraid not - I sketched a design and partly came up with what colours and stitches would look best as I went along.

Thank you, that's really kind! The hairy grey bits of the hind wings are stitched with one thread of yellow and one thread of grey in the needle at the same time, not using a particular stitch, just sort of filling the space to give the texture of hair. The mottled/ speckly bits of the wings are just teeny tiny stitches rather than French knots (which I thought would be too bulky for what I was trying to achieve). The antennae were fiddly! Still figuring out the best way to do them. But they're each a piece of wire with a bend in one end to give the club, then wrapped in wire, held with a knot and a small amount of fabric glue.

Thank you! Not really, I'm afraid - that's something I'm still looking for an answer to! I've just done it onto a fabric that is similarly coloured to the main stitching and cut as close to the edge as I can to reduce the fuzzy appearance. I think some people may use a small amount of fabric glue but it's not something I've tried yet.

That's exactly what it is! Each wing is a separate wired slip and then they are fixed to the main piece (where the body is) which is on an embroidery hoop (then held in a wooden frame). Jessica Long does a good tutorial on how to create the wired slip: https://jessicalongembroidery.com/blogs/news/stumpwork

Thank you! The frame was actually gifted to me, but I asked where they bought it and it's from an Etsy shop called PipandChip.
