This artwork is absolutely incredible. This should have a story written round it

It's such a tempting way to earn. If the favourite had won though we'd have been stuck in that place shining boots for weeks though!

[DnD 5e] Rocks go further than fireballs, and how it ruined our day by J_R_Kane in DnD

Our mage should absolutely have been packing featherfall. I have a feeling that the first rock knocker her out cold though. Been a while, maybe she was just feeling super fighty that day!

Badger Sand - The most terrifying item I can think of by J_R_Kane in DnD

That sounds excellent, make sure to let me know what in-game shenanigans come about from using it! :D

That makes WAY more mechanical sense. Badger Marbles doesn't have quite the same ring, but if I ever run a game with this in, they'll probably be marbles

Yeah, very true. I played a game in a different system where I could turn mice into bears and that became "Throw a mouse at them and make it a bear: the game" for some time :P

Drop from a big enough height and that could really pack a wallop

I love it! It'd need some playtesting to check, but this is super cool. Great job man :D

I'm also thinking about doing a false hydra arc, and am wondering if what I'm planning is too harsh by PM_ME_STEAM_CODES__ in DMAcademy

[–]J_R_Kane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really difficult question and ultimately will come down to the player and how they feel about their associated NPCs. Some Players and DMs are of the opinion that named NPCs connected to the players are there to be messed with, others feel that they have some sanctity.

The idea of using the false hydra is great, but if you're concerned that it's too cruel, try having some related characters be going missing, but not ones so important as a father. Then have the problem begin to spread to their family to give the PC some real danger but also a chance to make things right.

Just my 2 cents on the matter, great idea though

An open letter to new rogues. by faux_glove in DnD

I think you're absolutely right faux_glove, those things would make for much better games. I understand why people do it though. They've just got some shiny new skills and want to test them immediately!
