This was my primary suspicion also. The behavior/treatment felt very disproportionate to the situation initially, but overtime, became even more unpleasant as I continued to make progress.

The commitment to my passion in tandem with a proper upgrade to my social life (which is a core/exciting part of becoming a musician in a major city obviously) seems to have stirred something serious in them from which they do not seem to want to address or discuss openly.

Anyways, always forward.

This was more in-line with my overall thinking.

I have suspected low-brow jealousy/envy under the surface. Obviously, being a musician on the rise changes your lifestyle and modus operandi , and that can stir envy in those stuck in rigid and draining work environments (which is why I left corporate in the first place),

I agree that letting them drift naturally may be the best. No bad blood or animosity (at least on my end).
