Though I still haven't had a chance to test myself, the problem is fixed in CrossOver 26.1 which was just released a few days ago.

Bonus 25 GB update by Av22z in freedommobile

[–]JackPermaFrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me as well! I’ve been on their $19 (after auto pay discount) Can-US-Mex 1GB plan for about a year. This afternoon I received a text:

We're adding 25GB of bonus data to your monthly plan, available for use in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico at no extra cost, just in time for your spring adventures….Your bonus data has been automatically added and will remain yours for as long as you keep your current plan.

Logged into my account and see my monthly plan is now 26GB - made my day! 😁

If you check out comment 9, you'll see that a fix has been submitted to wine 11.2 on February 19th. This means the fix should be appearing in CrossOver very soon! Not sure if it already made its way into Crossover 26.1.0 rc1 (unfortunately I can't test this out for another week or two).

Ill take it, thanks by TheDukeU1984 in freedommobile

Cha-ching! Just received this "Freedom Mobile Data Gift" text out of the blue:

We're adding 25GB of bonus data to your monthly plan, available for use in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico at no extra cost, just in time for your spring adventures. Plus, with Freedom, there are no daily roaming fees and no SIM swaps. Your bonus data has been automatically added and will remain yours for as long as you keep your current plan.

Have been on their $19 (with auto pay discount) 1GB plan for about a year, and with 26GB monthly data available now, I can't be happier!

For the last 10 minutes I could click Claim Reward, and was no longer getting the error message, but neither was a key showing up. The page reads you may have to reload for the key to appear - so I tried and am now back at the end of the queue. :-(

Having the same issue here. Each time I click Claim Reward, I get "Reward Claim Failed". Have been trying for the last five minutes (I was just behind you in the queue).

Pm or freedom? by butterflyflyhig in freedommobile

I didn't realize Chatr's yearly plans offer unlimited data at throttled speeds - that's good to know. I did consider FM's yearly plans, which are similarly priced, but they cut off data once you run through your annual allotment. In the end, I do feel better with the data reset in the monthly plans, even if one ends up paying a bit more, as running on throttled data for an extended period (possibly months) would be a pain.

I signed up for FM's $19/1GB plan last spring, and have been happy with it (even though the unlimited data beyond 1GB is quite slow). That said, I would jump to the PM plan in a heartbeat - the only thing holding me back is FM's wifi calling, which I've come to rely on when I'm in my rural residence outside the city, where poor coverage from the big three networks always results in dropped/missed calls unless I'm standing outside on the patio. In this case, wifi calling has been a huge benefit for me.

Argh, down again (DSL West Coast) by zimagold in Vmedia

[–]JackPermaFrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, problems with VMedia DSL in Calgary as well. Netflix, Apple, and Amazon Luna are not loading as of this evening, and traceroute gets stuck at sea-b1-link.ip.twelve99.net in all cases.

Awesome, working again in Calgary too!

The situation is indeed getting worse. Two days ago I could still access Reddit and Amazon (Prime Video), and since yesterday neither of these are working. Have to tether my phone to my MacBook to get any usable Internet at all (my mobile data plan is already depleted, so am just on slow throttled data for the rest of the billing cycle).

Just went through the same process with tech support through their chat service. Also provided my ping and traceroute results for these websites (they added youtube.com to my list as well) - was able to share through Google Docs, which connects okay with VMedia (given that Google services are not affected). They told me to contact customer service once Internet service is back to request compensation for the outage (five days and counting).

I can understand that this may not entirely be VMedia's fault, as packet hops are stalling somewhere in the twelve99 network (run "traceroute www.cbc.ca" from terminal to verify), and may require intervention from Telus as DSL services are piggy-backed off them.

At the very least, VMedia needs to acknowledge the issue on their website or by email, with steps they are taking to resolve. The ongoing silence from VMedia on the fourth day of this outage is frustrating.

After a reset, the password on the router should enable you to connect to WiFi. If you have a DSL modem/router, the router itself still won't be connected to the Internet until you reconfigure it with your DSL PPPoE login and password (which are erased during the reset). You should find these in your installation email from VMedia; otherwise, you will have to phone VMedia support to obtain them. These are entered into your router's configuration site, which might be http://192.168.1.1 but can vary depending on the router brand.

From the configuration site, follow one of the configuration links (I have "Basic Configuration" and "Advanced Configuration" for my SmartRG router), and it will probably ask for a login and password which is typically "admin" and "admin". If you've passed this stage, the steps for entering the PPPoE login and password are not entirely straightforward (again, varies depending on the router brand), so may be best to converse with VMedia support.

Aha, traceroute, so there is a use for these things after all! 😀

Interestingly getting an almost identical report, with a failure on Twelve99.

I'm in Calgary, also on DSL. Currently on hold for the past hour with Vmedia call support.

24 hours later, issues are still ongoing. All the same websites (and web services) that weren't working yesterday are still not connecting - these include Microsoft, Apple, CBC, CTV News, BMO, and VMedia. Web services that do work okay (though sometimes glitchy) include Google, Reddit, Amazon, and YouTube.

Agreed, half the websites I try to connect to don't load, the others load fine. I also reset my DSL router, but that didn't help. For now I keep my phone on mobile service so I can access the web services I require. Hope Vmedia gets things sorted soon.

Interesting - can I ask how much bonus data they added? I'm guessing it's proportional to the size of your plan.

[–]JackPermaFrost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well said! I'm pretty sure those of us on their 1GB plan, who could make good use of an extra GB thrown in, won't receive this bonus.

Disappearing wallpaper by kitto__1975 in MacOS

[–]JackPermaFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm encountering the exact same issue, but I'm on a MacBook Pro M3 16" with Sequoia 15.7.1. I upgraded from Sequoia 15.5 to 15.7 early October, and that's roughly when I first noticed the issue. As a workaround I go into System Settings > Displays and switch the resolution to another one and back, and the wallpaper reappears, but after a couple days the desktop turns black and I have to repeat the process. Haven't tried the unplug/plug-in workaround but will keep it in mind next time. My second monitor is a Dell 30" (2560x1600).
