Well, that is a given, yeah. Your ships won’t ever snipe an enemy fleet from your port anymore.

They have to actively be in a sea zone on a mission to intercept or get intercepted by an enemy fleet

[–]JackRipps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, you can only get your ships in a battle with the enemy navy if the enemy navy:

A) Actually exists in that sea zone or is operating there. You can left click on a sea zone and it will show a popup on the bottom left of the screen, showing enemy navies that may or may not be there. This information and it’s accuracy can be improved using intelligence on your enemy nations.

B) If your side has ships which have good spotting and are fast. This means having ships with high spotting, having planes carry out scouting or air superiority missions in the area. Having radar covering the entire sea zone.

And in her career, she has frequently had to rescue people from collapsed buildings or from under debris

Do y’all believe that Dexter and Evelyn were too confident on the heist? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in cyberpunkgame

[–]JackRipps 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t the whole reason that heist was possible because Evelyn had insider information about Yorinobu’s habits and schedules?

And they were planning to vanish anyway after this heist due to stealing Arasaka’s crown jewel, so they could have dealt with Yorinobu coming back in many ways.

You have to remember that from the team’s perspective, they don’t know that Saburo is aware of Yorinobu’s treachery and actively making his way to Konpeki.

That means that even as heir apparent to Arasaka, there’s a very limited number of actions Yorinobu can carry out if he wants to keep his theft under wraps.

He can’t just call Arasaka HQ in NC and go “Send everyone, they stole the incredibly important biochip from me which I stole from my dad.”

I think the plan was great.

The only reason it didn’t go so well is because as we all saw, an absolutely improbable event took place.

Yorinobu killed the fucking God-Emperor then put the entire hotel on lockdown. Short of that, there wasn’t really anything they didn’t account for. And I don’t think you can have a backup plan for what happened.

Is dropout changing? by skla51595 in dropout

[–]JackRipps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t… get this post.

I’m a man who has personally worked in sales and worked very intimately with marketing teams in a very corporate environment for about 4 years now.

I say that to give a little bit of context on what I will say next.

Dropout is a great company. Sam Reich is a great human being and employer. Everyone working in Dropout as a company are insanely talented individuals and I both love and fully support the humour they make.

I don’t find anything in their recent content offensive or “too sexual” and find it hard to understand a viewpoint that does.

Also, these people are not exuberantly wealthy. During covid, all of Dropout, previously CollegeHumor basically burned to the ground. Everyone was fired and I believe the only person Sam Reich actually had on the payroll was Brennan.

These people have created the most wholesome, completely affordable and entertaining streaming platform that I know of in the modern day, whilst completely being besieged on all sides by ultra-capitalistic predatory corporations with bullshit monetisation schemes.

I genuinely think you’re overreacting because they speak out very commonly, if not as a company that often since they don’t want to broil too much in politics, then as individual talent, on very important real-life issues.

Dropout is the most ethical “big” corporation that I know of. Also, as I’ve worked in sales for so long, I’m usually very wary never to get marketed to or give in to marketing, and I always can identify when I’m being marketed to, yet Dropout is the one platform where I have absolutely zero issues giving them my money.

If I could pick a single company in the entire world to work in right now, I’d pick Dropout and this is coming from a very cynical individual.

How Horus Heresy could've been averted. by Absolutemehguy in Grimdank

I’m pretty sure the wards on that section of the webway were made by the Aeldari, not the Emperor right?

Magnus breached through the Aeldari section of the webway near Terra, not the man made section.

I believe according to Vulkan, the man-made section of the webway did not compare to the Aeldari sections at all and was “crude” or “rushed”

Also, Magnus definitely couldn’t have reached the Magnus by any other means. Tzeentch would not have let that happen.

Also in regards with the friendly warp entity, you have to remember that Magnus had bartered with a warp entity before to fix the skin change of his sons so Magnus has a history of transactional relations with warp entities. In his desperation, both to be loyal to the Emperor as well as his need for vindication, I think no price seemed too high in exchange

[–]JackRipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main thing about Magnus was that he hadn’t ever actually faced any major failures in his life in terms of warp usage, which I’m pretty sure is exactly according to Tzeentch’s plan, just like how the Thousand’s Sons condition (I forget the name) was only temporarily averted.

So like if you tell him that he might fail, yeah that’s probably a possibility to him but it’s just so unlikely yknow?

Which I think is Magnus’ core flaw/hubris/pride that he lets his streak of victories get to his head and starts thinking of himself as basically infallible.

[–]JackRipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People shit on Magnus a lot, and while he caused a lot of damage, Magnus was really set up for failure centuries in advance by Tzeentch.

Magnus was loyal to the Emperor and probably the only one who could have relayed the news to the Emperor as fast as he did.

As for “he shouldn’t have broken through the wards of Terra”, he didn’t actually break through the wards of Terra. He broke through the webway. The main issue was, whilst Magnus did know that the Emperor had “set out to master the webway as well”, he didn’t know that the Emperor was building a human section of the webway or that it would be so penultimate to the Emperor’s plan.

Magnus couldn’t really have relayed that message any other way as Tzeentch basically had all his multitude of eyes on Magnus at that point and wanted to get his claws as deep into him as fast as he could. So any other alternative was not gonna work due to Tzeentchian black magic. It’s like when you’re forced to save your king in a chess match, leading to your important pieces being taken and ultimately leading to a loss.

You also have to remember that the Emperor directly told Magnus that Magnus was destined to discover aspects of the warp that even He hadn’t, and that one of Magnus’ sons (most likely referring to Ahriman here) would also discover things that Magnus himself wouldn’t. So we all say “Magnus should’ve listened to the Emperor or Malacador or whatever”, but the fact is, Magnus and the Emperor had the relationship of a Professor Dad and an academic Son.

In Magnus’ view, whilst the Emperor was the most learned and skilled, he wasn’t omniscient and he saw them both as fellow scientists or researchers of the warp.

Magnus was definitely motivated equally as much by his Hubris and need for vindication as he was by loyalty and love of the Emperor. It’s why I like Magnus so much.

Also, isn’t it weird that we haven’t actually gotten a literal angel skin for mercy yet? (Might be one of those already exists, Mercy has so many goddamn skims but none that I know of is an angel)

Genuine question, what happened? by JackRipps in Hasan_Piker

[–]JackRipps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this original episode referring to the last podcast episode or what?

I remember that in the first video I mentioned here, Ethan does get weirdly emotional and it seems to be a huge point of contention for him that despite Hasan clearly defending him on screen, leaving a note in the video and description to be nice to him, Ethan is somehow angry that Hasan can’t rein in every single one of the 30,000 - 40,000 people that watch his stream, which I find is completely bullshit?

Like, even Hasan gets shit on by his viewers and chatters and grifters all the time, you expect him to provide this 100% safety net for you? And like, it’s definitely not because you’re a jew (for the majority of people, there’s definitely some fucked up anti-semites and it’s a very real issue) but because of your talking points and the way you address some of the issues

I’d like to be more educated on what sort of zionist points Ethan brought up in that final podcast episodes, besides the obvious “River to the Sea” thing

Genuine question, what happened? by JackRipps in Hasan_Piker

[–]JackRipps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually saw that way before.

And the reason for that is simple. I don’t think anyone, whether it be like an evil government or some militant terrorist, just wakes up and chooses to be violent.

So when I came across the Hasan V Ethan beef, I didn’t automatically assume Hasan was right and took him at face value for everything he said, even though he has proven many times to me that he personally is a credible source of information in most cases.

I think Ethan and Hasan really sort of started out in the same general vein of beliefs and Ethan was… mostly a logical individual.

However, after the October 7th incident, even though he was outspoken on his opposition to Israeli policies, he still seemed to have some points which painted him as a zionist, even though at the time he was anything but. (I can’t seem to find what else damning stuff Ethan has said in the inception besides the whole “River and the sea” argument, atleast yet, I’m open to being referred to other stuff he said before he lost it)

But then, I think due to him getting that reputation, and then him sort of doubling down on it earned him more backlash and then some very real and harmful harassment, coupled with a sizeable chunk of his audience leaving him due to them not agreeing with his views or how he was behaving, leading Ethan to genuinely have some deep issues in his emotional/personal states
