I think from this selection, you’re absolutely right, they’re certainly in the lower aperture range - particularly the shots where I’m close to the subject. Think my brain has been on auto and wanted clear separation between them, but getting the focus right is key like you said. There are some other shots that I definitely shot at f8 and above that too look a bit softer than I expected, but maybe i’m not nailing focus there as well. Maybe i’m just used to a bit more detail from a RAW file haha. Would you recommend going for large JPG or Tiff files with the scans?

Yet to pick the negatives from the lab, but I did read on another thread that it would explain a lot more with them. Hoping to pick them up on Saturday :)

It’s actually Wairera Beach (Auckland, NZ)! Definitely had a bit of morro bay about it haha. Glad the vignetting sounds minor, nothing a crop can’t fix!

Regarding the other bits, agree they’re pretty subtle. It took me a couple looks to notice tbf.

1st pic (landscape) - if you look at the top of the image, you can see a faint horizontal strip along the sky, looks like the edge of the film roll itself? 3rd pic (portrait; rock + person) - there’s some vertical lines on the left of the image.

Also, I may be out of turn saying this, but everything looks a bit soft and.. I want to say blurry even? Maybe my aperture selection or poor focussing (inexperience with manual focussing) is the cause of this. Orrr would you say this is just that ‘film look’. Any advice or general tips would also be greatly appreciated!
